David Gregory cherry picks polls to favor McCain

Look at these two screen shots from David Gregory's show "Race to the White House" today (Tuesday 10/15). Notice something strange? The Virgina poll is over two weeks old, and the North Carolina poll is nine days old. And what do you know, both show McCain with a small lead! Why rely on old data? Maybe because the newer ones conflict with the McCain "Comeback" storyline?

Here are the current trends in Virginia:

And North Carolina:

Virginia has been polled five times since October 1, for a composite average of Obama: 51% - McCain: 44% Obama is above 50% in all five.

North Carolina has been polled four times since October 7, for an average score Obama: 48.5% - McCain: 46.25%

Nicole caught Tom Brokaw pulling the same crap a few weeks ago. There must be something in the coffee over there at the "Meet The Press" studio. Either way, Gregory is presenting old polling data as new for the sole reason of benefiting McCain. He should be ashamed.

14. I don't know...Todd might want McCain but he has been
pretty clear about the picture. He shows how Obama only needs 1 of the 7 swing state and leads in most of them and is gaining in all of them. He even points out he's gaining in W Virginia..North (?) Dakota and some other red southern state

He says McCain's only path is a sweeps of swings and his electoral ceiling is still just over what's needed while Obama has so many paths to victory...

I'm thinking if Todd shows a poll that is not as favorable it might just be the one they are using like the NBC one coming out. He might not like Obama but he likes to be clear on the math.
Gregory doesn't like Obama or math

3. Yeah. I don't know if it's that he supports McCain, or that CNN doesn't NEED...
...Gregory if the race is a blow out.

Maybe both?

6. I don't have a problem with this.
It is to our advantage that the republicans THINK THEY CAN WIN. There are a lot of them who hate McCain and don't want to vote for him....but they will vote AGAINST Obama if they think he's a sure thing. More will stay home if they think it's a close race. To them that means McCain in a landslide.

7. NBC and MSNBC have been contacted many many many times
about the misinformation that Gregory pushes so hard. The fact that there is no response anywhere, or any evident change in tactics should tell us something.....

(Is there anyone here, still, that thinks the media is NOT manipulated on a regular basis?)

8. The benefit is that it makes voters less complacent and more likely to show up to vote
So although we are ahead by a lot more by them making these false statements will force more democrats out to vote and ensure the larger win.

9. Write MSNBC, and tell them you will not watch Gregory, Scarborough, or Buchanan.
I wrote them over a month ago and said just that. I think you have to tell them you will not watch their network when they have RNC shills for hosts or commentators.

When Pat is on Rachel, I switch it off. I won't watch him, any more.

Only by depriving them of viewership can you really do anything about their on air choices. I will watch Maddow, Olbermann, Schuster, and Matthews. I will not watch Morning Joke or Gregory, and MSNBC's daytime programming is more like a tv tabloid show than a news channel. I never watch Contessa Brewer or Alex Witless. I know third graders with more sense than those two.

15. both CNN & MSNBC are loathe to give that last state to Obama...
...which would put him over the top. They won't do it. I don't know if it's because they think they'll be tipping the election by admitting Obama has juuuust about got enough EVs locked down, or because they want to continue the suspense - most probably - or what. But it's obvious: they will NOT give CO or VA to Obama, no matter how high the polls go - 264 EVs is where they will stay until Nov 4th.
