Obama signs in my neighborhood.
I live in Lincoln, NE. Not a really liberal city to say the least.
I walk between two and five miles most mornings and most days I see another Obama sign on my walk. There are no McCain signs, a few state repub sign, but no McCain signs in my neighborhood. That makes me happy.

1. Ritchie Rich
Most of the McCrypt signs in our town are on the hill where the Ritchie Riches live.

2. Well, that is definitely not my neighborhood.
I live in an older, lower-middle class neighborhood.

4. Country vs. city, in a nearby town
No signs in my village except for my poor deluded neighbors across the street who put up a McCain sign yesterday. But in a nearby town, all the McCain signs are on the outskirts, in the country, and all the Obama signs are in the village. I'm not sure what that means...except to reinforce the redneck stereotype...

9. I'm on the hill where Ritchie Rich lives and there are no signs here.
shocking actually but I live in a blue dot in a red state.

Still, when we moved in here 14 years ago...tons of GOP signs everywhere.

I actually think the republicans who are left are too embarrassed by their candidate (or his pick for VP) to plant signs. Hence a couple of signs for local elections but no McCain signs.

3. I'm proud of my neighborhood :)
We have lots of Obama signs :headbang: Northern VA always goes Democratic anyway. There are 2 or 3 houses who proudly stick up their Retardican signs for every election.. In MY opinion they might as well have burning crosses in their yards

7. In my 'hood
in rural NC, it's about 20 McCain signs to 2 for Obama (one of which I think was stolen or taken up in the last day or two).

8. Burning signs in Massachusetts
Last night's news included a story from a local community, where an Obama sign on a woman's front lawn was burned.

The woman (quite rightly, I thought) said that it was symbolic of burning crosses done by the KKK.

Anyway, after the dirty deed was done, she put another Obama sign on the lawn and attached a note to the burned one instead of taking it down. The note basically said that burning a sign was not the proper way to conduct political discourse...that discussion was the way to go about it, and it also included an invitation for the burner to come in and "discuss your candidate".

OK...nice thought...but a little naive, IMO.

People who run around burning signs aren't usually intelligent enough to engage in rational discussion, and who the hell wants a crazy person in his or her home anyway?

But my point is, I guess, that even here in "Liberal" Massachusetts, racism...or something close to it...is alive and lurking in our cities and suburbs...

scary...and sad....
