it makes me SO mad that Clinton was railroaded for his infidelity and the same people completely ignore John's ........grrrrr!!!!

He'll claim it was PTSD

Only untrained soldiers get PTSD.

I have two uncles who were in Vietnam (a third died there). That is such a fucking insult.

That must be why the VA doesn't need any funding, the soldiers coming back from don't have PTSD, just a few bad dreams.

Q: You met your husband after his POW days. To what extent is that still with you - or is it a part of history?

McCAIN: My husband will be the first one to tell you that that’s in the past. Certainly it’s a part of who he is, but he doesn’t dwell on it. It’s not part of a daily experience that we experience or anything like that. But it has shaped him. It has made him the leader that he is.

Q: But no cold sweats in the middle of the night?

McCAIN: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. My husband, he’d be the first one to tell you that he was trained to do what he was doing. The guys who had the trouble were the 18-year-olds who were drafted. He was trained, he went to the Naval Academy, he was a trained United States naval officer, and so he knew what he was doing.

It's part of their "Where They Stand" series that they have every night on the CBS Evening News. It's a good series--they compare each candidate's answer to a specific question.


An aside:

I like to compare the different news programs. Last night I compared the same news as presented by both NBC and CBS. Decided that CBS was a lot better. NBC gave more attention to McCain and his speech of the day with his "new" economic plan, and just mentioned Obama's 53-39 lead in passing. They made a big deal out of the bank bailout.

CBS had a bigger emphasis on Obama's lead, with video of him and his supporters and then talked about the Independents breaking for him. When they got to McCain, they said he came out with his economic plan "after two days of confusion"! (Chip Reid) They were also not afraid to criticize the bank bailout plan, saying it would take 1 1/2 years to really work. The "Where They Stand" question was on AIDS. Obama has a National AIDS Strategy; McCain has an abstinence program!! Like that will work!

NBC is more "Corporate Media" than CBS--this isn't the only time I've seen this.
