The personal politics ans choices aside, their endorsements have real value with undecided voters and that broadens the coalition in a realigning election that we have not seen ths like of since 1980

1. I wouldn't be surprised if they endorsed later this week or next.
Chuck Hagel's wife will be sitting with Michelle Obama at the debate tonight. How long before Chuck himself is endorsing?

last-minute fence sitters and Indies, so I think either of those endorsements would tell the undecideds "This Obama guy is all right--we trust him, so can you." I think the pressure will be on Powell to speak up, but Hagel may just let Lilibet Hagel do the endorsing in the family. I suspect he may have promised McStupid personally that he wouldn't endorse Obama.

3. Jim Leach, former 18 term congressman from Iowa
He was tossed out in '06. He used to be called the "conscience of the House" I think...although that may have been a myth he cultivated.

4.  Why should Republicans matter to "Independents"? Answer: Because so-called "Independents" are
wavering REPUBLICANS.

IMHO.

"Buckley Is Out at National Review After Obama Endorsement"

October 14, 2008,
Susan Davis reports on politics.

"The son of conservative icon William F. Buckley has parted ways with the magazine his father founded for committing a heretical act by National Review magazine standards: endorsing Barack Obama.

"In a column today entitled 'Sorry, Dad, I was Sacked'on www.TheDailyBeast.com, Christopher Buckley, a well-known author who also who wrote the back page column for National Review magazine, writes that the uproar over his endorsement last week of Obama over Republican John McCain prompted so much backlash that he offered his resignation—and the magazine accepted." http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/10/14/buckley-is-out-at-national-review-after-obama-endorsement/

6. Bush
He could finally admit reality. Say that the Republicans have screwed up royally and that it's now time for the country to give the other party a chance.

It's the least that he could do.

8. But think of the self-repudiation it would represent
Bush's official approval rating would then be down to 0%, since he wouldn't even approve of himself any longer. It would be historic.

9. What about Ron Reagan Jr?
Yeah I know he's not a Republican himself. But so many Republicans consider his father to be their Messiah, maybe they would listen to him?

I think Nancy endorsed McCrazy though. And Michael endorses putting live grenades up Muslim babies' asses.
