Ok, Senator Obama wins and 70% of the nation rejoices....
...which leaves the 30% of the American al-Qaeda Republicants (you know, 'the base') that needs to be dealt with. These are the people who shout 'kill him' at the Prick/Pornstar rallies (which, oh by the way, remind me of Amway rallies) and they will be a clear and present danger to the stability of the nation as the Obama administration starts to clear the Aegean stables left by the past 30 years of Reagan-Bush-Fuckstick malfeasance.

So the question is how can we contain them? (We can't ship them offshore and we can't lock them up - remember, they are still Americans). I think the best solution is to engage the Republicans who are disgusted by the hijacking of their party to corral them in and begin a process of rehabilitation.

2. Leave them be.
They'll realize that A) no one's listening, and B) if they decide to come around then President Obama's willing to listen.

Eventually they'll start eating their own. Just let them self-destruct.

4. If it was that easy, I would say yes....
...but they will still have the infrastructure of talk radio to stoke their hatred. The Fairness Doctrine would be a start, but that won't be enough.

5. Just let them rant, most of them have become an embarrassment even to their own party leaders
Most of the Republican base has become nothing but inbred uneducated bitter idiots. They have become an embarrassment to the conservative elders. It is better to let them continue ranting and threatening violence because it just makes them implode that much faster.

10. It would nice to dismiss them....
...but I remember the bitterness we felt when the Fuckstick/Shitstain administration was sworn in on that miserable day in 2001. Well multiply that bitterness by a thousand fold and throw in a heaping of violent tendencies and you can see where I'm going with containment.

Less than 30% who don't mind "kill him" anyway.

9. they will be forced to shed the neo-conservative arm
and return to fiscal conservatism sans social conservatism.

Or they will perish.

11. I'm not so forgiving
I'd round up those extreme assholes, and send them off to the Halliburton constructed detention camps for a refresher course on what this country is about. They've fucked this country over, gutted OUR constitution, and called us unpatriotic, communist agents. They need to be dealt with, or they will only come back.

13. Conservativism In The Wilderness
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 10:27 AM by Joiwind
True conservatives are already used to being in the wilderness. The neo-cons put us there long before Obama came on the scene. There is nothing conservative about the neocon imperial enterprise.

What you call social conservatism will continue, but I predict it will subsume into a re-localization movement. A lot of the abortion nastiness could have been avoided if the issue had been framed locally rather than nationally. Nevertheless, I predict the next 20 years will be hard on conservative religious folk as payback for attempting to use the indelicate tool of government to enforce private conviction.

We can't afford true fiscal conservatism right now. We need too much public investment in the infrastructure; roads, housing, health care, EDUCATION, etc.

It will be a long time before we have a viable conservative movement again. First we have to make certain there's something to conserve.

Like FrenchyCat told me, this election is about saving the country.

Barack Hussein Obama wants to be the President of the United States of America, not the CEO of the Federal Government. That's why I voted for him, and will be proud to claim him as my President.
