as nice as it is to see Obama up in every poll...
please do not get complacent!

It seems to me there was a huge feeling of optimism with Kerry in 2004, and the Republicans still managed to steal the election.

We need to push harder than ever so it is a true landslide - one so profound that all of their dirty dealing can't overcome it.

1. I thought polls consistently showed Kerry slightly trailing leading up to the election. nt.

3. I'm not. I totally expect that McCain will gain some ground and the media will make it look like he
is making some kind of huge comeback when really he isn't.

4. Absolutely! We need to help get people to the polls
I'm planning to drive democrat seniors to be sure they get to vote. We need to all be hypervigilant and active until the last poll closes!

5. Accurate post!
And I agree. I don't care if Obama is up by 60% in the polls, people have to actually vote first.

6. Honestly, I didn't fall for the Kerry optimism
The day of the 2004 election, I was happily surprised by the exit polls, but all the polls
up to then showed Bush winning by a slim margin.

This year I AM optimistic. Not complacent by any means, but I see a lot of room for
optimism.

I will say that I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it.
This will be the longest three weeks!! I don't know if I can stand it. LOL

7. Are we children? Do we need to be constantly, Constantly, CONSTANTLY reminded of this?
I guess I've missed the countless posts that suggest that we should get complacent, just coast, and party, party, party.

10. I think they are tagging off and taking turns. It's like praying to Mecca..
five times a day, somebody has to post "don't get cocky", or the rest of us morons would just decide to sit this one out.

12. It does get old to be constantly lectured by the "concerned".
You might think that instead of harping on us to not get complacent and to keep working for Obama that they would instead use their lecture time to actually work for Obama.

11. How can we fight them stealing the election? What can we "push hard" to do?
Seems like it's out of our control, according to you. I guess your post has convinced me to stay home on Nov. 4th.

13. No one should stay home
because they are so convinced that their vote isn't needed.

I look at the polling in the 10 states what Obama only needs one to win this thing. Even though he's ahead, many seem to be within the margin of error or within 5 points. No good enough IMHO.

Everyone must vote. Raining? Get an umbrella. Sick? Take 2 ibuprophen and get a friend to drive you. Tired? Caffeine does wonders. Have an exam? Unless it's a 12 hour exam, you really have no excuse.

VOTE!

15. There wasn't this kind of optimism (at least with me) for Kerry.
I wanted to win, sure. I voted for him, donated to him, and supported him.

But he couldn't seem to get a foothold after that Swift Boat BS.

19. Polls showed Kerry trailing Bush consistently ever since the Republican convention in '04.
Just one of the many reasons "it was stolen" makes no sense.

20. all I'm saying is that there was a real sense of optimism
not necessarily that the polls pointed that way. If I recall correctly, polls fluctuated wildly.

And regardless of whether or not actual vote tampering occurred, Republicans pulled many dirty tricks.
