"I'm gonna hate him the minute I vote for him. But I won't ever vote for another god-damn Republican
The two most unreal moments of my professional life of watching focus groups:

54 year-old white male, voted Kerry '04, Bush '00, Dole '96, hunter, NASCAR fan...hard for Obama said: "I'm gonna hate him the minute I vote for him. He's gonna be a bad president. But I won't ever vote for another god-damn Republican. I want the government to take over all of Wall Street and bankers and the car companies and Wal-Mart run this county like we used to when Reagan was President."

The next was a woman, late 50s, Democrat but strongly pro-life. Loved B. and H. Clinton, loved Bush in 2000. "Well, I don't know much about this terrorist group Barack used to be in with that Weather guy but I'm sick of paying for health insurance at work and that's why I'm supporting Barack."

I felt like I was taking crazy pills. I sat on the other side of the glass and realized...this really is the Apocalypse. The Seventh Seal is broken and its time for eight years of pure, delicious crazy....

2. Bizarre. But a vote for Obama (enthusiastic or not) is a vote for Obama.
I'll take it.

3. They live in fear thanks to BushCo
And they're afraid it will continue under McCain, so they're willing to take a chance that something might change. You know, if they're going to vote for Obama because they believe he is the lesser of two evils, I will gladly welcome them aboard. I'm confident that they will want to vote for Obama in 2012. I think their attitudes will change after they're out from under the fear they have from McBushCo.

4. They still can't figure out (or accept) that a lot of today's problems
date back to Reagan.

Oh well, as long as they're voting for Obama I guess it doesn't matter.

6. Now that his terrorism
activities as an eight year old have been uncovered, will he be tried in an adult court? I'd like to think I don't need a sarcasm smiley but don't dare take a chance.:sarcasm::puke:

8. I guess the second woman's odd comment explains why
Mukkkain changed his tune on the ayers thing and has now made it about truthiness: Some people actually believe that Obama himself was in the weather underground group and don't care!!!!

7. This is one of the joys of campaigning.
You see this crazy shit regularly. Seriously, everyone should get out at least once and experience this. I doubt if it will ever happen again in our lifetime.

19. They gave Bush credit for them.
It was Bush Senior's policies finally working that led to the Clinton boom. And the recession under Poppy? Carter's fault. I shit you not. I worked with a lot of dittoheads (all dirt poor of course) back then, and that's what they told me.

15. I see that so much I think that the candidate rarely even matters in an election.
People vote for how they feel the nation is going, and just fit candidates to whatever ideas they have about the nation or the parties.

Here are a few I've heard in this cycle. A mechanic says he's voting McCain because Bush is the only president who has ever given him a check. A salesman who worships Reagan but couldn't decide between Obama and Fred Thompson because both seemed like common men--he's a strong Obama guy now. An older business owner who is surprisingly wise and informed, but can't vote for a woman, so he's voting for Obama. I've got a lot of Democrat friends who are activists and even professional campaigners who hate Obama, thought about voting McCain, but ultimately have come back to Obama, though they don't like him.

Who cares? All the votes go in the same pot. In the end, Obama will win and have four years to convince people he deserves more. In 1980 Reagan won over a lot of conservative to moderate Democrats in the South who planned on voting for him for one term. Many never went back, and the whole South turned Republican, and the whole Democratic Party shifted left because they left.

Just win, baby.

18. Yes, what we need is more of that good old Reagan socialism!
Life was so much better after Reagan nationalized all industry, even cars and Wal-Mart.

Don;t even get me started on the crazy weather guy. How many people do you think think he actually did the weather on the local news?

20. That, by the way, is the mythical "centrist voter" worshipped by the MSM.
they're low-information voters, and they really have no idea what's going on. Their mental model of the world is hash.
