Obama SLAMS FOX Noise: Without Network, He'd be up 2-3 More Points
Obama: Fox worth 2-3 points

A fascinating riff from Matt Bai's new Times Magazine story:

“I am convinced that if there were no Fox News, I might be two or three points higher in the polls,” Obama told me. “If I were watching Fox News, I wouldn’t vote for me, right? Because the way I’m portrayed 24/7 is as a freak! I am the latte-sipping, New York Times-reading, Volvo-driving, no-gun-owning, effete, politically correct, arrogant liberal. Who wants somebody like that?

“I guess the point I’m making,” he went on, “is that there is an entire industry now, an entire apparatus, designed to perpetuate this cultural schism, and it’s powerful. People want to know that you’re fighting for them, that you get them. And I actually think I do. But you know, if people are just seeing me in sound bites, they’re not going to discover that. That’s why I say that some of that may have to happen after the election, when they get to know you.”

it will just go to their heads.

7. I guess you haven't seen the hour-long hit piece Hannity did on Obama.
I know a guy who believes it. It's disturbing. Fox perpetuates myths about Barack and it does effect people's perception of him.

stomach an hour of Fox unless it's sports. And even their sports coverage is biased.

Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 03:36 PM by Whalestoe
First, Obama does not hang out with terrorists. In fact, he doesn't even have any friends who are listed as "terrorist".

Secondly, Rev. Wright does NOT hate America. He served in the military and attended to our President LBJ during his surgery.

Hell, this Wiki article puts it into better context: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremiah_Wright_controversy

20. I told my parents all of what you wrote in your post...
but they just say that I have gotten to be so liberal that I do not see the truth. WTF? My parents live in Florida and Obama could sure use their votes....I am working them good and if I can even get them to vote for Obama and they have to hold their noses doing it that will be a success!

I am telling you that FOX News and the rest of the so called "liberal media" have alot of power and if they would simply tell the people the fucking facts and no more Obama would be up in the polls by about 20-30 points right now.

And that the guy who hosted that Hannity program is a known anti-semite and bases all his arguements against Obama on opinion--not fact.

8. Fairness Doctrine Nao
Fox "News" needs to be shut down. It is a threat to democracy and civil society, in general. If Obama completely used up his "honeymoon period" getting that filth forced off the air, America would be a much better place.

35. Until they start giving out FCC broadcast licenses to anyone who asks for one..
..it ain't right that all the Reich Wingers have to do in order to monopolize the political discourse is buy up all the licenses.

I would prefer that the airwaves be opened up for everyone, but if we're going with torches and pitchforks, the Repukes can't well pretend that they didn't bring it upon themselves.

A smear machine and not a source of real news. I like this, I don't think it's giving them credit he is speaking the truth and I think he's giving them fair warning that the jig is almost up.

29. Not practically. There is certainly an industry
that generates false information to the American people from every side. It goes beyond any vast right wing conspiracy in the 1990s. This is massive. They try to influence every written word in newspapers and every spoken word on TV and radio. Consider, just as one example, how ABC even tried to inject ugly right wing politics into football by using Rush Limbaugh. Then there was Dennis Miller. This should tell you the scope of this operation.

They haven't been able to do any major damage--despite their constant attempts because almost everyone with half a brain knows they jumped the shark a long time ago. Liberals know they are full of shit and I'm sure moderates and Indies caught on long ago as well.
