GOP group drops Ayers attack ads.
A Republican 501(c)4 that spent millions on advertisements tying Barack Obama to William Ayers seems to have dropped the former Weatherman conspirator (and Barack Obama) from its advertising.

A new ad airing nationally on CNN on Fox News focuses on the economic crisis and criticizes Democrats in Congress...but not Barack Obama.

Could it be that they are watching the polls, seeing that the attack is not doing any good, and switching course? If so, McCain won't bring it up tonight.

Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Since it is a loser issue for them.

1. Well good luck with that..
Good luck tying a bad economy to Democrats when most people trust them a lot more to handle it.

2. Trying to save Repubs in Congress
The new meme I've heard on rightwing radio is that you can't trust a Dem Congress when you have a Dem President so you have to keep as many Repubs in Congress as necessary to create gridlock and prevent evil liberal legislation.

It seems to concede the election to Obama and change the slogan to "Save the Two Party System"

3. They really don't know what to do, so it seems.
The attempt at manufacturing hysteria isn't working beyond the fever swamp of rightist ideologues. What to do? "Bread and butter" issues are recognized as a loser.
