I voted today...Story from small town WV
Charles Town WV, my partner and I head down to the court house on the first day of early voting here in WV. There was a line of about 10 people, and the pace was quick.. a steady stream...

I voted for Barack Obama. We have 4 people on the ballet here. It was excited and you could tell that we were all there to vote for the big O. The head of elections for Jefferson Co said that he had to call in a few others because he did not expect it to be so busy...

So I get to vote today... I am flying to CA in the AM to marry my partner of 14 years... and I start my new job on Monday!!!! What a great week!

5. My Partner also voted for BO. He was going to write in. Did not like BO gay stance...
but in the end, he said that there was no one else to vote for, and he feared that McCain would win by 8 votes in 7 states... and he would have to kill himself.

9. Best wishes to you all!!
How exciting! I moved to CA from Kentucky 10 years ago for a new job and a new life and have been very happy! Where will you all be living? My partner (CA native) and I are in Davis just outside of Sac.

Congrats on getting to cast your ballot today and on your pending nuptials! You have made my heart happy today!

Peace...

16. That is just like Arkansas
Two Dem Senators, all but one Dem Congressman, Dem Governor. Most of Arkansas' state legislation is Dem too, is it that way in WV? I do not understand why they get it at the local level, but the national. It's not like these local Dems don't vote pro-choice and support sensible gun regulation.

18. My family lives in Arkansas
so I pay a little bit of attention to it. I live in Oregon. Honestly, there isn't *that* much difference. Mine have been known to vote to appeal to the rural loggers and gunowners and farmers, just like they do in the south. We just don't take all that banning the bible stuff seriously out here. Maybe that's the difference.

20. I've been very sad that no Dem is running against Boozman.
The ONLY decent thing that Representative has done was respond favorably to a letter I wrote him about reauthorization for Kristen's Law -- the law that provided funding for the National Center for Missing Adults, which has since been forced to close its doors since the bill to reauthorize funding for it hasn't made it out of committee.

He'd better have responded favorably to it -- I highlighted six missing people from his district in Arkansas where the ONLY reason you knew they were missing was because of the work done by the National Center for Missing Adults.

They used almost all of their money trying to assist in getting victims from Katrina and Rita identified -- they don't have any resources left to help out with Hurricane Ike.

Apparently it's a Green running against Boozman this year -- and with coattails from Obama, it's quite possible Arkansas may have a Green representative!

23. Charles Town is so pretty
We stayed in a historic civil-war B&B right on the main street, and walked around the civil-war era graveyard behind it.

Great story, and congrats on your wedding (this coming from a straight girl who has been RESISTING marriage to my SO for 16 years)
