Why are all the msm pundits saying that McCain won the debate
and/or had his best showing? To me, he was absolutely bizzare. Seriously strange. I have a much worse opinion, and worry about his sanity than before

2. Because they want a horse race. They want the polls to tighten.
The American people aren't buying their crap though. Thankfully.

But for Keith and Rachel and I'm not sure who else.

It's all a game to them.

just the thought that daddy could get drunk one night and ass rape them is pretty much their fantasy. Anyone with half a brain knows Obama won.

Seriously, the only one I've seen say that McLame won is Pat Buchanan. But that is expected. He is as crazy and as old as Gramps.

15. They're settling down some now, but I switched around through all
the channels right after the debate, and was astounded to hear a consesus that McCain either won, or at least did his best job yet. I thought he was just strange and stuttering.

22. I agree
"best" is a relative term - he sucked pretty bad in the last two debates and did a little better tonight. Still, Obama/Biden wins the series 4-0.

more than he's had during any other debate.... But when he went off the rails, he TOTALLY went off them

14. Every snap poll shows Obama won by a lot
And the other softer question were all in Obama's favor as well. The biggest was "Which candidate spent more time attacking the other candidate?" on CNN......80% said McCain and only 7% said Obama.

24. The Pundits have been wrong after every debate.
The blogosphere has better reflected how these debates have been viewed by the majority of viewers. Give them a day so they can get it figured out and then they will parrot what is said out here.

M$M punditry, as we know it now, is on its last legs.

(shhhhh - don't wake me up from this dream, ok?)

27. Because they're all cowed by the Republicans into thinking
that smart ass snarks and insults without the other guy getting down in the mud with you proves you are a winner. Apparently telling lies through your teeth is something admirable with these people and acting like an adult is a crime.

This garbage has worked so long with the American people that they just believe if you engage in it you are winning. None of them are smart enough to call the RNC out on this childish behavior and the chronic lies.

Once Obama is president that culture will change and the pundits will be forced grow up. Americans are just sick of this crap, especially the younger ones. The Republicans reign of terror is coming to an end.

30. I've now settled into MSNBC. Thank you Keith. Right after the debate,
I was switchiong everywhere, and I swear, every channel was lauding McCain. They were using lots of boxing type terms, offensed defense and stuff, but my experience of the debate was that Obama spoke directly to me/America, and I loved it. That's why I was annoyed to hear other stuff.

29. They start out on McPasty's side, but when the polls come in they change their tune
They really do get into the whole "who attacked best" thing. The polls show what the rest of us see, that is, Barack is a cool customer, and McCain looks unhinged.

32. They apparently graded on a curve, like I did
IMO, this was easily McCain's best debate. At least he tried to win, unlike the others. His opening half hour was light years more forceful than previous debates and the seated format seemed to suit him.

I expected this debate to be judged close to 50/50 since Obama was on the defensive the majority of the debate. I'm thrilled Obama is estimated to be the winner so handily but frankly I'm a bit baffled. I can't remember being so far off on debate analysis. Normally, no matter what the pundits say, my estimate is very close to public opinion. Perhaps I was thrown off by starting to work on Excel workbooks in the middle of the debate. I listened but generally did not watch and apparently I missed facial expressions that worked against McCain.

In grading this debate more favorably to McCain, some of us may have made the mistake of judging McCain against previous versions of McCain, instead of McCain versus Obama. But it was much more competitive, energetic and lively than the two previous presidential debates this cycle.
