Stevens to rule on Ohio

The Ohio Secretary of State, a Democrat, asks the Supreme Court to put a hold on a federal court ruling requiring her to pass to country officials disputed lists of names that don't "match" on voter registration rolls.

Justice Stevens makes the next move; SCOTUSblog has the details.

The Ohio motion (.pdf) warns that if the lower court's order "remains in place, mismatches may well be used at the county level unnecessarily to challenge fully qualified voters and severely disrupt the voting process."

5. Yes, that is very good news.
He has a great legal mind and, I believe, will see this effort by Repubs in Ohio to refuse eligible voters their right to vote, for what it is: illegal and blatant voter suppression. I look forward to his ruling.

7. Just think if there were five or six
It might turn out be kind of an activist court but at least help cart out the fifty years plus of right-wing leaning crappy precedent
