From Democrats.com way the hell back in January...
In the New Hampshire Democratic debate sponsored by FOX News on Jan. 22, ABC's Peter Jennings challenged Wesley Clark to repudiate the claim of Michael Moore that George W. Bush was a "deserter."
Mr. Moore said, in front of you, that President Bush-he's saying he'd like to see you, the general, and President Bush, who he called a "deserter." Now, that's a reckless charge not supported by the facts. And I was curious to know why you didn't contradict him... Do you still feel comfortable with the fact that someone should be standing up in your presence and calling the president of the United States a deserter?
Wesley Clark hedged his answer by saying:
that's Michael Moore's opinion. He's entitled to say that. I've seen-he's not the only person who's said that. I've not followed up on those facts.
After the debate, pundits and journalists joined Jennings in attacking Clark for not condemning Moore's statement. Those attacks continued through the Sunday talk shows, including Meet the Press, where Tim Russert, Tom Brokaw, and David Broder all attacked Clark.
So this raises a crucial question: What are the facts? Did Bush go "AWOL"? Is he a "deserter"?http://democrats.com/display.cfm?id=322You've just wasted a month and precious momentum reacting to the most obviously dishonest and dishonorable smear in recent memory.
I am now listening to the campaign react to every right-wing knucklehead in the world it seems calling you unfit to be commander in chief.
Michael Moore had the guts to mention the elephant in the GOP living room eight long months ago...that your opponent, George W. Bush, deserted the TANG.
Deserted, damn it all!
That disgusting little impostor then said he had an honorable discharge and that was proof he didn't desert.
BALONEY! What that honorable discharge proves conclusively is that a fraud was perpetrated against or by the U.S. government when that discharge was awarded.
That smirking excuse for a man who acts with all the cockiness of someone accustomed to having someone else fight all his fights for him has not provided one shred of evidence that he completed his obligated service. He absented himself without leave for a year. All Article 85 of the UCMJ requires is 30 days absent.
That makes him a deserter, not AWOL, not "a child of privilege avoiding war"...it makes him a DESERTER.
The honorable discharge he waves around is rock-solid evidence of fraud which would be easily established if someone with media cred pressed it. By God, bloggers can't do everything. If the campaign doesn't call bush a deserter then the DNC should.
Senator Kerry, when you said "Bring it on!" after the primaries I thought for sure Bush was at long last going to face the music for deserting.
It's time to "bring it on", okay? Your courage and honor have been challenged by a bunch of chickenhawks who back a DESERTER, of all detestable critters...don't let them do it.
It's time to use the "D" word...Peter Jennings can no longer sputter that we've no proof.
