1. Yeah, go to RCP it has VA double digits blue and growing. Obama has ran a VERY VERY smart
...campaign and get into counties where the GOP was weak and took them over. He's wining all of Kerry's states plus with IA being solid blue all he needs now is one of NV, CA, NM, MO, OH, FL to win.

Those states are solid blue, there's no way I'm going to accept a loss this time

3. I think it's safe to say New Mexico is Obama's as well.
At this point, Colorado or Virginia would give him the election.

CA was definitely a Kerry state.

10. You should edit your subject and add "IF he gets all the tossups"
Otherwise, it IS misleading to only post the first part of what you wrote.

Way past 270.

Why are you angry?

This is the first time I've seen Obama pass 270.

It's a very misleading thread.

14. They call them toss up for a reason. You can't give them to either candidate.
You're title is misleading. It doeesn't matter what they said.

19. John on CNN gave them to McCain as a point that he can't win
even with all of the toss ups. He did it to show Obama is at 270 and McCain is done.

27. the "problem" is your headline. Are you being deliberately obstuse?
IF the sky turned to cotton candy today.. I would be very happy. If every single toss up state went to McCain (what are the odds of that, they're called toss ups for a reason) then McCain would get those EVs. But the point that people are making about your post... is that you offer a number in your title, without qualifications. Does that make sense?

6. The various news networks have varying...
electoral maps. The worse they are doing in prime-time ratings, the closer those maps show the race to be. CNN is not doing well - But Barack Obama is. http://electoral-vote.com/ has it Obama 352, McCain 171, Ties 15. http://pollster.com/ says Obama 313, McCain 155, Toss-up 70. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/?map=5 - a reliably Republican site - has it Obama 286, McCain 158, Toss-up 94.

CNN just WANTS McCain to have 261 EV's - but he doesn't.

Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 03:46 PM by dchill
John King was describing some admittedly unlikely ways that McCain could win. I'm not saying that John King is in the tank for McCain, but he's playing along with the idea that it's close enough to be a "horse race" - just like everyone else on the news channels.

Edit to add: And NOBODY on the TVNEWS is talking about http://www.intrade.com/ - which has Obama at 364 and McCain at 174. W.O.O.T.

16. Sounds like the MSM doesn't WANT YOU TO SHOW UP TO VOTE
C'mon people...the Corporate Media strategy for the last 3 weeks is to convince voters it's over.

Will make it easy for a lot of first-time/wishy-washy voters NOT to show up on November 4.

Think about it.

Does the MSM need to suppress news now for the sake of lazy/apathetic voters? It's the responsibility of the campaigns to spur voters to vote, not the MSM to coverup news in the chance someone may act in an idiotic way in response to it.
