5. Yep, right after I learned about Realigning Elections back in 1976,
my first college Poli Sci Class, the republicans up and realign against me...

I've been saying that ever since the GOP fielded such a class of losers in the primary.

6. If nothing else, prez shit-for-brains showed the entire country, if not the entire world, just how
incompetent and evil the repukes can be. He and his minions crystalized for the population all the negatives that repukes can bring to a govt.
After he is out and unknown...we can give thanks that his stupidity and incompetence were responsible for what may yet be one of the biggest political re-alignments in this country.
I hope that it lasts for decades and decades, and the neo-cons become nothing but the butts of jokes.

8. I'm thinking this one could be
much more like 1932. The Democrats took the Presidency, House, and Senate from the Republicans and remained in power for a long time thereafter. Roosevelt brought in the New Deal which transformed our society. Social Security came about. The eight hour day.

I think we may well be on the edge of a similar transformation, except that I won't even begin to predict what kind of changes will occur in the next four, eight, or even twelve years. Of course, Obama will not be able to run for a third term, unlike Roosevelt, but he'll be young enough (56, I think) to have a long, distinguished time as an elder statesman ahead of him.

Yes, it's beyond foolish to even think that far ahead at this point, but back to my original point: this election may have a far greater impact than 1980 did.
