4. Yes.
And while I've changed my attitude towards Colin Powell considerably (from "eh" to "lying, acquiescent Bush Adminstration toady"), this still will be big.

19. I'm in agreement. Powell will give McCain the benefit of the doubt
in part because of the "experience" arguement.

Hell, if Hagel, who traveled to the Middle East w/ Obama and who is retiring next year, won't completely go over to Obama why would anyone expect Powell to do so?

20. Now it would be nice gloating points if Mr P did endorse Obama.

If this does happen The freepers are ready with the "racist" spin of it's
"just one Black supporting another". yep, I already seen this posted over there.

They are unbelievable

23. I don't know, this could be his chance to stick it to the neocons..
plus be on the "right" side of history. Of course I don't think Powell does anything without Poppy's approval, so this would be interesting if he does endorse Barack.

7. It will be McCain. He donated $2300 to McCain, and is a loyal republican.

5. No He's Not,BD. THIS will be the Death Knell for Moderate GOPers.
Indeed, there is a special place in hell for Colin,b/c he was a Vet and allowed himself to be manipulated into lying in to a WAR...BUT I do think his endorsement 15 days out HELPS more than HURTS.

6. I'm wondering if this is going to be the story of the day.
Will the press move from the boring plumber to "Who's Powell going to endorse?"

I have mixed feelings about Powell. He's just above dirt in my mind, given how he's facilitated (and in the eyes of the lesser-informed, legitimized) the actions of those currently in power.

But at the same time, I'm a pragmatist, and I see the great value that would come from his endorsement. We'd be fools to not want his endorsement; it - along with the bump Obama is going to get from his infomercial - would effectively kill any remaining chance that McCain had.

So this leaves me hoping. I haven't watched much Meet the Press since Russert died, since it's largely turned to crap because of its hosts. But I probably won't be able to resist the temptation this weekend.

Colin gave John 2300 in the 3rd quarter of 2007. He hasn't donated though for the General Election

25. McCain has become increasingly neocon since then..
while George Bush has backed off the radical neoconism a bit, this probably would concern Powell quite a bit.

10. Probably
He'll probably slam Obama on his associations and his inexperience. Remember this guy tried to sell the war to the UN.

12. He's probably still pissed that his rep took such a big hit because of the Republicans
in particular Bush. I read somewhere that Colin Powell actually sat down with Bush for about an hour and a half trying to convince him not to invade Iraq. He probably isn't happy about how he was used as a pawn to sell the war.
