Colin Powell might endorse Obama
Source: Politico

Retired Gen. Colin Powell, once considered a potential running mate for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), now may endorse his opponent, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), according to Republican sources. But an air of mystery surrounds Powell's planned live appearance Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," and no one is sure what he will say.

Powell’s unassailable national security credentials could sway voters who are vacillating about whether Obama is ready to be commander in chief, and his endorsement of the Illinois senator would make a national security emphasis by McCain in the election's closing days extremely difficult.

10. indeed
the lying just never stops.

It is as if 2002-2007 never happened. Now the narrative is once again Victory In Iraq (but we can never leave) and all is forgiven and forgotten.

12. Yes, at this stage, I think we would be better without it............
..........Ya never know what might come out in the future (in Obama's admin) about the ole general. He's winning now and it looks like barring any-like the Rude Pundit says- "dead white boy" found in his bed, Obama will be the biggest Presidential winner since the great, larger than dead, st ronnie of reagan.

16. Powell’s unassailable national security credentials???
You mean like when he LIED to the UN?

I wish he would just explain that--if he had known and lied anyway or if he had been given false information and by whom. I used to admire Powell - I wanted him to run for President!- but now I feel really cheated because of all that hoopla before the Iraq War. I felt cheated and my friends who were against the war from the start were right. I was wrong and it's because I put a lot of clout into what Powell said.

I dont anymore.

17. The interesting thing to see will be if the (known) lying war criminal gives it,
will Obama actually accept it?

Or will Obama flatly refuse it and call the criminal what he is?

18. Politics is all about making various deals with various devils...
IF Powell offers it, I really don't see any downside to his accepting. Eyes On The Prize, and all that.

Now, should he offer Powell a cabinet position, I might have a problem or two with that.

But until Sunday, it's all moot anyway.

19. Very good news if it's true.
I have big issues with Powell's conduct regarding Iraq, but his endorsement could be a big help with independents and moderate Republicans, and it's not going to cost Obama any votes. As long as there's no quid pro quo (e.g., a cabinet position), you take help where you can get it. I hope it's true.

And the guy who let himself be used to legitimize the Lie-raq weapons of mass deception?
