6. Here's the wire report
Four Tops lead singer Levi Stubbs, who possessed one of the most dynamic and emotive voices of all the Motown singers, died Friday at 72. He had been ill recently and died in his sleep at the Detroit house he shared with his wife, said Dana Meah, the wife of a grandson. The Wayne County medical examiner's office also confirmed the death.

With Stubbs in the lead, the Four Tops sold millions of records, including such hits as "Baby I Need Your Loving," ''Reach Out (I'll Be There)" and "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)."

The group performed for more than four decades without a change in personnel. Stubbs' death leaves one surviving member of the original group: Abdul "Duke" Fakir.

Stubbs "fits right up there with all the icons of Motown," said Audley Smith, chief operating officer of the Motown Historical Museum. "His voice was as unique as Marvin's or as Smokey's or as Stevie's."

9. Also the voice of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors remake
to those of us that came a little later.

What a powerful voice. "I'm a mean green mother from outer space, and I'm bad"

RIP

10. What a voice, what a performer.
Even after 43 years, Reach Out(I'll Be There) can still bring the tears.

Rest in peace Mr Stubbs and thank you.

16. Poor Levi had been ill for years .....
.... I have been affiliated with their "rival", the Temptations, for a while. I have the most hillarious picture of the late Obie Benson making the silliest face behind Theo Peoples and myself, he was a bit jealous of the attention.

Anyway .... Levi goes on to join Benson and the other greats .... Laurence, David, Eddie, Paul and Melvin in that big TnT concert in the sky!

Cant wait to get my front row seat one day!

Levi Stubbs, one of the greatest soul singers ever. Damn this world will be a sadder place without his awesome voice.

The Four Tops and the Temptations were the kings of soul.

23. Obama should take Reach Out as his campaign song.
That great voice belting out hope - "I'll There".

I think Mr Stubbs would have been pleased.

So many songs that highlighted the best of the "Motown Sound", reverberated gloriously through his voice and from his soul. :(
