Tucker Carlson speaks the truth
Edited on Sat Oct-18-08 07:41 PM by Perky
From a Politco article: Press resisting temptation to call the race
THe point is thatthe network have real real commercial interests in keeping the campaign going. They did the same thing with Hillarty even when there was no way she could win.

Cable networks will be covering the election’s final weeks around-the-clock, with the broadcast networks airing segments on morning shows, the evening news, and late night—it’s hard to believe they wouldn’t want a close race to cover.

“You want to keep the illusion of drama in play as long as you can,” MSNBC’s Tucker Carlson said. “It doesn’t help your business to concede the game’s over.”

But that begs another question: Will the cable networks covering the race around the clock try and portray it as tighter than it really might be?

CNN President Jonathan Klein, standing on the sidelines of his company’s politics and media conference on Monday, bristled at that idea.

“We never manipulate the information in any way, shape, or form,” Klein said. “We just don’t do it. It’s antithetical to everything that we stand for, and it's dumb business. You wouldn’t want to mislead the public who counts on you for reliable information.”

And as for calling the race in mid-October, Klein said that “if anyone at CNN is writing off John McCain, they are out of their minds."

5. Klein, on the other hand, tells a whopper

6. yeah, that's why Tucker just brought up how he thinks McCain should use Rev Wright
Keeps illusion of close race (I think it will get closer, but we would def win if election was today).

8. The problem is not that THEY WON'T call it now, but how they try to manufacture stuff
To make it look like there is a "situation," a conflict of some sort, a blow up by someone, a gaff...etc. Stuff like ACORN and JTP for example, and they go on and on...I have seen healines actually asking: will Joe the plumber save the McCain campaign...etc.??? Stupid shit like that!!!

9. I'm having a difficult time believing that the media is "pimping"
for McCain 24/7 just to keep the ratings up. That sounds too simple. I believe that it is deeper and more sinister than that but have no idea exactly what their motives really are.
