Poll question: Are you afraid to put up and Obama/Biden yard sign for fear of vandalism
Edited on Sat Oct-18-08 09:41 PM by Quixote1818
or some kind of harm / threats that might come to you?

This is in response to the other thread that suggested there were less Obama signs in his town because people were afraid to put them up.

If you did put one up and were vandalized or threatened please post your story below.

2. I have my sign in the window.
It's double pane glass that needs to be replaced anyway. So if it gets a rock I'll just replace it.

Fortunately my Condo complex is Obama central. :) I can see about six Obama signs from my den window.

12. I claim the "Georgia Defense" as well
I did turn several bumper stickers into magnets. I can drive around, show support, then take them off and protect the car at home.

8. I am not afraid to put one up.
Most of the Presidential signs around here are for Obama, so I would have little fear that it would bring trouble. However, as much as I'd like to put one up, I can't. I live in a apartment building so I don't have the legal right to put a sign on the front lawn. :(

Honestly? I hate to say it...
...because I'd love to have a great big Obama/Biden sign in my front yard, but I don't. All my neighbors have McCain signs (though there are several houses that have no signs, and they are either apolitical, or like myself). If it were just me and my property at risk, I'd say, "Come and try your luck." But I have animals, and I don't trust the rethug crazies. It's my family's lives at risk, and I can't do that to them.

14. Not afraid, but I don't have a yard
There is an Obama sign on my storm door though.

And there's an Obama poster on the back parcel shelf of my car.

Along with the "bush lied, thousands died" poster.

15. No...I just don't have one cuz I live on a cul de sac
and the same 10 people would be the only ones seeing the sign. Figure more people will see my bumper stickers when I drive around/t-shirt when I wear it.

with strong Pro-OBama and strong ANTI-McSame signs on the glass...and I haven't even been given the finger yet....people are just numb and I really believe the pukes are afraid to voice their opinions in public....there are virtually no McSame/Pain bumper stickers here in NE OHIO. For me, if I see them I am in their face.....it is FUCK YOU all the way baby, I am no longer interested in debating. Any known pukes that I talk to are just spewing the code, afraid to take a stand.

Edited to add:

CHange, HOpe, OBama........!!

17. Where do I get one?
I could put it in my window, all my windows face a canal, a thief would have to either swim or take a boat to mess with my sign :)

19. I have mine in my front window...
It's not a matter of being afraid of vandalism... it's a matter of the rocky soil here in this part of WV that won't allow me to get anything to sink in far enough to not blow over in a strong wind.

My neighbors are for the most part apolitical... well, except for the guys across the street (quiet, middle-aged gay couple). The shorter of the two saw my Obama sign in the window, and immediately asked me where i got it, and lamented not having one.

I did my neighborly duty last Wednesday, and snagged an extra one for him at the rally that we had at WVU. He had it up in their front window before dinnertime. *L*

20. No fear here.
We've got one out in the yard now. The next door neighbor (grumpy retired marine) has a 'Yes on 8' sign up, so my partner said we'll have to get a 'No on 8' just because. The guy (he's on the corner) has it on the corner of his lot kind of away from his house so it appears be speaking for the entire cul-de-sac.

I'm resisting every urge to rip that puppy out.

21. Yeah, in my neighborhood it's a McCain/Palin sign that would get you trouble.
Fortunately, it doesn't seem that anyone is so inclined. I haven't seen a McCain/Palin sign anywhere in the city.

26. ditto here.
i don't see many signs at all, not like other years. it's a shoe-in for the dems this year anyway, so i think people don't feel the need to demonstrate their preferences. i find the lack of signs and bumperstickers odd.

23. Not afraid at all
Edited on Sat Oct-18-08 10:39 PM by BreatheOnMe
I just still live at home. My parents have always liked keeping politics to themselves. I want one to help balance out the McCain/Palin signs. I've seen about 5 McCain signs to 1 Obama sign in the area around my house. Today I went for a walk and a new Obama sign was up so now it's 5 to 2. My next door neighbors who always support Democrats usually have 4-5 signs in their yard. So far they only have 1 for county commissioner. It's a more Democratic city so I'm hoping to see more Obama's in these last few weeks.
