We had 100 people show up to volunteer at my house today!!!
:D

We staged a launch for our Early Vote push here in Nevada, and 100 people came to walk and knock!!! Most were from California (THANK YOU, CALIFORNIANS! WE COULDN'T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!!) Old, young, men, women, black, brown, white, pink, but most importantly all BLUE :D came to Get Out The Vote for Obama! What a day. I am exhausted, a little giddy, but taking a second wind to prepare to launch again tomorrow.

I think the thing that brought me to tears, however, if I may get personal here, is that my mother, who has never really been very much involved in politics but is feeling the immense importance of this election asked if she could help. We picked her up early and she stayed all day, meeting and greeting folks and talking politics. She came over and thanked me for having her and said how proud she was of my efforts, and how good she felt because the news she watches every day makes her skeptical whether Obama can win this election. She said after today, she felt much better because of the turn out we had and the eagerness and contagious positive energy of all the volunteers. She had a great time just talking with like-minded folks.

Many of my neighbors came over (some were like, :wtf:) and thanked us for our efforts, offering their driveways for parking. One neighbor who owns a local pizza franchise brought us 8 large pizzas, and I didn't even know he was an Obama supporter!!

So, here in Nevada, we're feeling good. Our work is not done. The local Republican party is mailing nasty mailers. But, if we can turn out the vote, Nevada will be BLUE this year for Obama! :hi:

3. You know, babylonsister, she was a Hillary supporter
and we had many difficult discussions during the primaries, she and I. Rev. Wright this, Rev. Wright that, blah, blah. But she's totally on board now and even re-registered to vote at her new address. I'm taking her next week and showing her how to vote on a machine - she's never voted on a machine before!!

9. These volunteers are amazing
they multiply before my eyes! I give them all the credit -- I just set up the walks, get it as organized as I can (we actually ran out of walk packs today and had to send a runner for more!!) and get them out meeting and greeting the voters. When I can, I walk, but, we had three shifts today and it left little time to do the door knocking. Kudos to all those folks, locals and out-of-towners who are helping NV turn blue!

11. Thanks so much, writes3000,
for your kind words - :hi:

The Obama campaign is lucky to have you and others who are so motivated, eager and willing to travel so far to walk, knock and call in neighborhoods not their own! I am impressed with your and others generosity and spirit.
