7. If Powell endorses Obama, right wingers will say it's because he's black

If he endorses McCain, they will say it proves what a great candidate McCain is.

Would be great to get them on record before Powell endorses anyone to see what they think - then see how that compares to their opinion one minute after he endorses someone.

... 'cause I would think that the Obama campaign would be aware of it, one way or the other, and would be working to diminish expectations if they didn't see it happening.

edit: p.s. And then I read this, from the article...

Powell has consulted with both Obama and McCain, and the general�s camp has indicated in the past that he would not endorse. So who the heck knows.
