Is this the first major "across the aisle" endorsement for Obama?

I know McCain and Lieberman are practically joined at the hip these days, but who was the most prominent Republican to endorse Obama before Powell? Chuck Hagel's wife? Dennis Hopper?
Just an endorsement by omission. Most people probably don't remember the big part Hagel played in McCain's 2000 campaign. But for those who do it's a no-brainer as to who Chuck is voting for.
Those Republicans who are standing up for Obama are showing that they do have principles that were betrayed by the Bush administration, and they will not tolerate the continuation of these policies.
Lugar said some very positive things about Obama's approach to diplomacy a few days ago though. All current senators have officially endorsed their respective party's candidate, with the notable exception of Hagel.
