And never forget, that after endorsing Obama, Brokaw played GE/GOP NBC whore and started to attack
Powell. Rightfully so on the war, but where has Brokaw been about this all along? He was trying to kill the message/messenger.

He also brought up Ayers as if Ayers was consequential.

1. I don't think Brokaw gives a shit about McCain - this is all a way for him to
get back at Keith Olbermann. The NBC news crew has split into 2 camps, one consisting of Brokaw, Brian Williams, and David Gregory and the other of Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and surprisingly Tweety. I think there is a real power struggle going on there and Brokaw senses that if Obama wins, KO is gonna wind up being the big dog at NBC news and Tom is going to be put out to pasture like maybe doing those "Catch a Perv" specials that proved so successful for the career of "Stone Phillips".

7. They're in the same category because they're journalists.
Brokaw, Williams, and Gregory are journalists.

Tweety, Olbermann, and Maddow are commentators.

19. Reading the nightly news off of a teleprompter does not make one a journalist
Brokaw, Williams, and Gregory haven't done anything of journalistic merit recently that I can think of.

25. I'm not surprised by Williams
In 2000, he was still a daytime anchor for MSNBC. I'll never forget the absolute venom he displayed whenever he had to read something off the teleprompter about Gore - his body language was incredibly aggressive, he'd lean forward and sneer and spit out the words. Whenever he read something about Bush he beamed and smiled. I've detested him since that campaign. Total Repuke jackass.

2. I think it's good that he asked Powell these questions, Ayers, race, etc.
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 10:09 AM by RichGirl
It gave Powell an opportunity to answer these questions himself instead of having pundits spend the week speculating. I thought his interview was very complete and covered almost everything that needed to be said and left little to question.

3. I fucking hate tom brokaw..I wondered how he would
react if Powell endorsed Obama.

If Powell endorsed mca$$hole as one poster started a thread on DU about yesterday then it would have been all ice cream and candy bars.

But Powell had excellent responses and wouldn't let himself be baited. Brokaw ended up on the short end of that exchange.

8. Anyone notice that the lips of chicken lips Brokaw got even thinner when he practically spat out
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 11:05 AM by No Elephants
that Obama has so much money that Obama had bought a half hour of TV time? It's Brokaw's Party that got rid of the fairness doctrine, though. Nothing stopped Andrea Mitchell Greenspan from bringing up the Fairness Doctrine this morning, though, to imply that networks should give McCain free time because of Obama's buy.

Wtf?

29. Yeah, he's seething
when that Mitchell witch talked about about money she also spoke of negative campaigning, daring to liken the repuke "muslim-Ayers-whatever" robo calls to Obama's latest nationwide ad featuring McSame himself saying that he has voted with Bush 90% of the time.

How is using someone's own words, verbatim, negative? It's the fucking truth. And it is a far cry from insinuating someone's a terrorist.

The other thing these shills -- all repukes BTW (David Brooks, Brokejaw (typo intended), Mitchell) --fail to acknowledge is that Obama's resources come from the PEOPLE as in we the people.

10. Was Brokhow disappointed about Powell's endorsement?
I don't know who Brokhow actually is going to vote for, but it seemed to me that he registered a degree of disappointment. It appeared to me that he was attempting to down play the importance of Powell's endorsement. Personally, I can't stand to hear the man talk. He seems like a shallow man without any substance or fire in his soul. Almost like a zombie grunting out statements. He has the personality of dead fish.

16. Being tough & cynical with Powell gave the endorsement all the more weight
People here on DU are just too obsessed with hating the man to realized that if he had gushed over Powell, it would have actually diminished Powell's endorsement.
