4. I don't think Rummy will be doing a whole lot of endorsing these days.
He was seriously considered for the presidency not so long ago -- by himself mostly -- and of course things have taken a downward turn for his prospects since.

He was a wrestler in his schoolin' days.

He was said to be something of a tyrant to work for and around.

I never liked him much myself.

5. They won't and Powell is a much bigger and better endorsment. I'm happy about it
it's dominating the news instead of "Joe" the "Plumber" and Sarah Palin on SNL. What's good for the Obama campaign is fine with me.

7. If Madeline Albright endorsed McCain...
...the Freepers would be wetting their pants with joy.

I don't see what the problem is here--surely there's enough blame for the Iraq War to go around. And Powell is now endorsing an anti-war candidate.

8. Condoleezza won't endorse Obama. You have to understand the difference b/t her mindset and Powell's
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 02:51 PM by Harvey Korman
Powell was a company man but once he realized the extent of the lies he was being used to sell he got out. He didn't go so far as to denounce his former employers, as he should have, but he wouldn't be part of it anymore. His endorsement of Obama is the next best thing to having repudiated the Bush regime when he should have.

Condoleezza is a company woman through and through who is too concerned with approval from her employers (i.e., the Bushes) to ever act against them or their interests in any way. She's about getting ahead for herself, and for the people who back her, not for getting at the truth--and not even for any particular ideology, really.

She might not publicly endorse McCain, but she won't endorse Obama.

EDIT: I see the sarcastic point you're making, but my point still stands vis-a-vis the differences between Powell's endorsement and the examples you gave.

Relatively weak one in my opinion.

12. obviously that's not going to happen, but if it did...
and Rumsfeld and Rice said that they were endorsing Obama because they had concluded that McCain was the wrong man for these times and that putting Palin a heartbeat from the presidency reflected incredibly poor judgment because she would endanger the nation, then, as shocking as it seems, I'd be happy for Obama to accept that endorsement too.

There are no tainted votes.Every vote that Obama gets makes him stronger. And that's a good thing.

13. If Donald Rumsfuhrer endorsed Obama, it would be reckless, foolish, hasty,
bungled, incompetent and ineffective...just like everything else he's done.

Obama doesn't need it.

15. Now a Rummy endorsement is one I would holler contempt at.
Powell has shown contrition and dared to buck the intense Cheney gang.

Rummy was a cynical pathological warmonger all the way. I'd urge that his endorsement be refused. Return to sender. No thanks.
