Tweety just brought up a GREAT point about 11/4 voting lines
People need to be in a mindset that they may very well have to wait for hours, in the rain, in the snow, to vote. So for folks that may want to help out on election day, may I suggest going to a local Dunkin' Donuts and buy a box of coffee for those that are waiting in line to keep them warm (if that's allowed).

1. I emailed my grandaughter
and told her to make plans to be in line and NOT leave no matter what.

14. Ack! I told her this is for
her and her generation. This is her first time voting and I said, 'this is a historical election, don't miss being a part of that history'.

She'll stand in line and do it. She's stubborn like her Gram.

4. I've never even seen a line at my polling place
every election I walk into my polling place and I'm usually the only one there, if not one of one or two other people.

I can't imagine what waiting in line would be like.

13. I'm lucky to have the same situation
Used to be in the basement of elementary school till it became old & unused. Then was in a church basement for awhile. Now in the utility basement room of a senior apartments they built to replace the schools. I just usually waltz in on way to work, maybe one or two people there voting, and never had to wait in line in my life.

I'm one of those rare people who have lived in same neighborhood all my 56 years.

17. In the 2004 general election, I had to wait in line at my polling place because I didn't go until
late, 5:30pm. Lots of other people getting off work and going to vote at that time.

However, there were only 20 people ahead of me, and the wait was just 5 minutes.

9. You joke, but I bet the really would have a problem with the shape of donuts.
That delicious goodness associated with an "O" shape will make people vote for Obama...... :)

10. Back in 2004
my son stood in line for 2 hours to vote in NYC. It would have been easy to just blow it off since NY would go for Kerry anyway. But people didn't. They stood in line, boring as it may have been.

What is important here is not to take any lead lightly. Be prepared to make a substantial time commitment. Bring a book, some knitting or a crossword puzzle.
