The "he's a Socialist", "wants to spread your money around" meme.
We'll be seeing it 24/7 from McCain/Palin as they desperately try to turn things around. They may try to call it re-distribution of wealth, but the reality is that the redistribution of wealth from Reagan to Bush has been the most dramatic in our history, from the poor and middle class to the wealthiest 2%. And the since the press will not dispute McCain's ridiculous assertion, we must shut it down before it gets any traction, especially in swing states.

1. Don't worry...
Obama and Biden are already hitting back by talking about the income and wealth inequality in this country. I expect them to push the issue even more.

If McCain wants to make this a major issue, let him do it. As usual, the facts favor Obama. The real problem isn't the redistribution of wealth; it's the concentration of wealth.

3. "Redistribution of Wealth" has lost its fangs in the last 20 years. I
believe that Americans thoughts on fairness, the fall of communism of 18 yrs ago, modern-day robber-barons, the meltdown of Wall St and the Bank bailouts has taken any sort of venom out of the charge of socialist.

"Spreading the wealth" sounds good to the average American who's struggling today.

7. It should be a good opening to slam the Bush McCain economic policies.
But the McCain/Palin campaign has become so unhinged and removed from anything close to facts or truth I find it amazing they're still hanging around this thing.

9. "Redistribution of Wealth" is a joke. Beyond a joke.
The wealthy are wiping their asses with U.S. currency & complaining how dirty the poor are.

13. and we are (mostly) all poor now
At least in terms of money. Sometimes I wish I believed in Hell. Some of these guys are deserving at least that.

5. Here is the meme I want to push
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 05:30 PM by LuckyTheDog
I think that, if elected, McCain would be the weakest president in at least 100 years.

McCain would never pass any of his "plans" (such as they are) through Congress. And, given his personality and the "slash and burn" nature of his campaign, he is in no position to "reach across the aisle" and sweet-talk the Democrats. And the Democrats would not be inclined to grant him any favors.

So what does this mean? It means that a vote for McCain is a vote for gridlock and a do-nothing, failed presidency. McCain would be set up, from Day 1, to be the most ineffective president in more than a century.

We can't afford that right now.

I think this is an idea that has not gotten enough play. It is something for all voters to consider.

8. Hi There!
Can we shrink them down to the point we can fit them in a bathtub? We'll need a few teachers to show them a better way!

12. The stain that won't get clean!
I've been ok...trying to focus on some new art projects and trying not to let my hair catch on fire with all the ugliness of the other side. I'd rather focus on the great wonderful people in this and many other nations who are willing to push for equality and a better, healthier world for our kids and theirs many generations hence. BTW, I enjoyed your post on the rattlesnake yesterday.

10. You're so right.
We need to point out that income has been being redistributed upward for 30 years now, to the great detriment of out nation's well-being. This is the invisible truth that few dare speak in the MSM.

14. Obama has enough money, and according to Andrea Mitchell,
has bought up all remaining air time before the election, so he can carpet-bomb the country with ads saying that John McCain thinks giving the middle-class a tax cut is 'income redistribution'(which Obama said in today's speech). Tax cuts are only for the wealthy. Well the wealthy had their tax cut, which is now ready to expire so now it's time to give a tax cut to the middle class since they got left out last time.

I'm not worried about this because I know Obama is on it.

15. my best friend forwarded me several emails she'd gotten from her mother pushing this...
asking me how to respond. i felt really badly for her, and for my other friend whose mother keeps emailing her about him being the anti-christ.

it would make me mad...if it wasn't people i care about, or for people my friends care about

anyway...i told her the best answer would just be "i love you, and please respect me as i respect you, and just stop sending me this stuff"

17. it is the black and white issue - again
Repugs are implying that obama is going to take money from white workers and spread it around to black folks who dont pay taxes. That is why it seems to take root in middle america. It is a very dangerous tactic - for us. we need to fight this hard.....

18. I'm sorry but George W. Bush just took 850 BILLION dollars
from the taxpayers to "spread around" with corrupt and incompetent Wall Street fat cats...

how's THAT for "spreading it around" and where was John McCain when the time came to demand real regulation of these clowns? Answer: asking for more deregulation.
