4. Walt Minnick, Idaho
Walt is running against Bill Sali, who could give Michelle a good run for looniest congress-critter. He was even referred to as an "absolute idiot" by the then leading Idaho Republican back when he tried painting a connection between abortion and breast cancer.

8. CA 50 Nick Leibham - closing in on huge upset

http://www.picknick08.com/poll-leibham-bilbray-race-a-dead-heat.html

Greenberg Poll Shows
Leibham-Bilbray Race a Dead-Heat

The race for the 50th Congressional District is a statistical dead-heat, according to a survey done this week by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research. In a poll of 400 likely voters, 42 % chose Nick Leibham and 44% chose Congressman Brian Bilbray. The poll was commissioned by Leibham’s campaign – the margin of error is +/- 4.9%.

“Brian Bilbray is a disaster. People have figured out that he doesn’t belong in office and this poll speaks to that,” said Leibham. “He voted against the G.I. Bill and our Veterans. He has taken $1.2 Million in campaign contributions from Wall Street while America’s economy is in real serious trouble. People are just fed up.”
The poll shows that 50% of voters cite the economy and current financial crisis as their top issue. Of those voters, 52% favor Leibham and 34% favor Bilbray.
The poll also shows Senator Barack Obama leading Senator John McCain by a margin of 53-41. Earlier this week, the FEC reported that Leibham raised more money than Brian Bilbray in this fundraising quarter. Leibham raised $420,101 while Bilbray managed only $261,671. This is the 2nd straight quarter Leibham has raised more money than Bilbray.

22. Anne Barth against Repuke Shelley Moore Capito
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 07:05 PM by oktoberain
The polls say that Capito is ahead by 14 points, BUT there's an enormous margin of error because the sample size is so small (400 likely voters.) The race certainly seems to be a lot closer than that from an "on the ground" perspective. Capito is a disease that West Virginia needs to get rid of.
