It's a 3 percent tax increase. THREE PERCENT!
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 06:38 PM by nyhuskyfan
How does a three-percent increase on the wealthiest percentile move us from the wonderful world of Republican-led free-market debt-digging capitalism into Marxist socialism? Boy - an awful lot must happen in those three percentage points.

And all the people railing against Socialism at McCain rallies would probably get two or three times the tax cut under Obama that they would with McCain. But because a millionaire can only keep $610,000 instead of $640,000 on their next million, somehow the fabric of our society would unravel.

Edited to correct math - thanks for catching that!

1. It's 3% while enforcing the 35% that was already in place; which wasn't enforced during Bush. n/t

3. 3% of a million is 30k but....
your argument still holds. I have a lot of colleagues that make millions and most of them are supporting Obama, most of the ones that aren't are typical sock-sniffers. No one in their right mind would be "dissuaded" from earning more money under Obama's tax plan. That is nothing but standard Republican myth and what's remarkable is somehow they sell it to masses of "average joes" who get screwed by that type of thinking.

7. Another thing the media never brings up is the
average family is in the 28% bracket and pays 6.2% SS and 1.45% Medicare for a total of 35.65%. The higher brackets don't pay into SS or Medicare once they make over 102,000. So I will still paying a larger percent of my income in tax than Bill Gates.
