11. OK, I am going to have to go in...
As hysterical as the "Sweet Potato Pie" speech is...I must ask what I am missing here? Is this in reference to the SNL skit where Sen. McCain declares that they should have a pie bake off or something? I don't know if I am truly understanding the "pie" thing...I think I am out of the loop and/or very, very slow...

17. Obama has made this incident a feature of recent speeches.

On edit : I wonder if this is an homage to the Men in Black episode of X-Files featuring Mulder eating a sweet potato pie? I'd post a picture or You Tube of that, but I can't find any!

I saw my first "pie" post a few days ago, and couldn't think what it meant. I had actually heard Obama's pie story, but forgot all about it by then.

29. Lyrics just for you - I remember when this song was popular!
Next time your found, with your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned, so look around

Just what makes that little old ant
Think hell move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, cant
Move a rubber tree plant

But hes got high hopes, hes got high hopes
Hes got high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your gettin low
stead of lettin go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant

When troubles call, and your backs to the wall
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall

Once there was a silly old ram
Thought hed punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin that dam

cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your feelin bad
stead of feelin sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam

All problems just a toy balloon
Theyll be bursted soon
Theyre just bound to go pop
Oops there goes another problem kerplop

23. I like adding yogurt instead of plain water to the crust. The acid helps to keep
the pastry tender. Some recipes call for vinegar for the same reason.

Hmmmmm....the Wegman's here has a locally made whole milk yogurt sweetened with maple syrup. Sounds like it's time to experiment!

I mean,I eat the melted marshmellows off the top of candied yams, but other than that, it's all pie!

Although, I think MY next pie will be served up on election day. I dont think I can wait another month.

31. We may have lots to be thankful for
Let us honor Barack's victory, if it does occur, by honoring his example.
Let's not forget those who cannot enjoy pie or turkey.
Let's chip in - be it with time or a contribution - with our local food banks to bring goodwill to those who need it most.
Many of us are keeping our fingers crossed and doing what we can to make this dream come true.
How about we don't stop even if Barack wins?
We can assure a successful Obama administration by carrying on the ideals we all believe in - each and every one of us.

38. We have a tradition of eating the pie Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday nite..
You are too full on Thanksgiving to appreciate it as well as you do the night before.

We started early though with all the pie references. We had a pumpkin one last week. I'm thinking on a blueberry with black walnuts one this week.

Enjoying the ride is just as fun as getting there.
