Please, when we win...(concern)
Let's not become them.

Their ideas are mostly wrong, but it's the Republicans' politics that led our country to where it is today.

Please, please, we have to continue to be introspective once we receive this power.

You saw Limbaugh today. He's been doing the same thing every day for nearly twenty years, speaking with the same hatred. Let's not become that sad and narrow. Let's not neglect ourselves and our country with that kind of thinking.

And let's fix this country, dammit. Our plate is full- overflowing, in fact. We can't get distracted and we can't afford thoughtlessness. We can and will show the world what true leadership is.

I get the feeling Obama is just the man to do that.

5. That's not what I worry about, of course.
But with power we can get locked into some really nasty thought processes.

Especially with the way the Limbaughs are going to go after Obama- they are going to hit him harder than Clinton. It's going to be horrible and very tempting to unload on them. But we have to be better than that.

6. We are definitely different.
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 08:33 PM by BullGooseLoony
There are a lot of things they do that you simply won't see from us. And even those things that we are capable of- we've shown some fight, I think, this campaign- are really just defending against what is typical coming from the Republicans.

So you're right in a large sense.

But we can still get lazy in our thinking, get caught up in defending our position, our politicians, rather than working to find the best ideas for our country.

These are just the dangers of power. We have to be really, really careful.

4. When I speak with conservative friends about Senator Obama...
... I always make it a point to emphasize, that he is a Constitutional Scholar, and does NOT believe in "tyranny by the majority."

It's a double edged sword... a selling point AND, a subtle dig.

7. That means we have to keep the corruptive influence of the lobbyists at bay
They'll be knocking on the doors of our newly-elected Democratic legislators first thing in the morning on November 5th - if they wait that long.
