I voted today. Absentee ballot, Cambridge Mass. Can I get a high five?

The clerk was drowning in phone calls and mail, I joked with the guy.
Said it's awesome that he's so swamped.
He gave me a tired smile.
Just then, the mail man brought in another full bin of absentee ballots.
I cutely apologized for jinxing him.
Told him that I recently succeeded in my months long campaign to get my boyfriend to register.
He laughed and gave me a high five and some Halloween candy.

That's my voting story.

Not as exciting as voting in some of those pro-American towns out there, but I was into it.


Thank you to all you readers who give a damn about this country and vote.

Oh, he also said that in the last month of registration, new voter registrations in my town increased the voter rolls by 7%.
And that is happening in virtually every town in every state across the country.
