Go Negative: HIT Bush & Cheney where it hurts, and HARD!
Edited on Sun Sep-05-04 09:38 PM by NEOBuckeye
I understand Senator Kerry wants to take the high road against Bush, but history is filled with examples of good, capable and honorable men who played nice vs. fire -- and got burned badly by it. Most recently, Senator John McCain and President Al Gore in the 2000 Election come to mind. Simply put, when you have a dirty, ruthless rat like Karl Rove running your opponent's campaign, you must fight fire with fire.

At this point, Kerry's campaign has allowed Rove to frame the election, which has obviously come at Kerry's expense. The Swift Boat ads, meant as a direct attack against Kerry's quintessential military experience and Vietnam heroism, have put Kerry on the defensive, forcing him to defend himself and counter the allegations against his service. One thing Kerry could and should be doing now, however, while simultaneously defending his record, is to counter Rove's charges against him, with more charges against Bush and Cheney on their record these past four years.

Where are the numerous WMDs that Bush said Saddam Hussein was harboring and why is it so difficult to find them? How could Bush possibly risk the lives of so many Americans and Iraqis on so little and such bad evidence? Does this not demonstrate incompetence? Why did Colin Powell read a college student's badly researched paper to the U.N. as evidence of WMDs in Iraq? How does this not demonstrate stupidity? How poor has Bush's leadership been to alienate so many of our allies and friends, fraying diplomatic relations that has taken generations to develop? Why has Cheney suppressed the release of documentation related to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001? What has Cheney got to hide? And why? Was he responsible for September 11? If he's not, then why hide the evidence? Isn't our national security at stake? Doesn't suppression of evidence in some way indicate guilt? Why all of the secrecy? What about PNAC? Why do such ideologues with such radical, dogmatic ideas as the Neo-Conservatives have such a significant pull with this administration?

Kerry should hit Bush and Cheney with a withering barrage of questions such as these to raise doubt about their leadership in the minds of undecided voters and force Bush and Cheney to go on the defensive. Force the electorate to stop and THINK about exactly what Bush has and has not done during these past four years. Anything that causes the electorate to doubt Bush and Cheney will only weaken the perception of their "leadership" and force people to really sit down and examine their record. In short, Kerry needs to turn the swift boat of his campaign around and drive it right into Rove's fire.

Additionally, the 527s like MoveOn.org, the AFL-CIO and others can really nail Bush and Cheney hard with adjectives in ways that Kerry can't. We need words; catch phrases and images repeated again and again and again that would negatively brand the Bush name for all time. Incompetent. Inept. Impotent. Careless. Reckless. Stupid. Dishonorable. Disorganized. Shortsighted. Egotistical. Arrogant. Selfish. Secretive. Criminal. Dirty rat. Dictator. Hitlerian. Fascist. Anti-Democracy. Conniving. Deceitful. Thief. Brute. Vicious. Felon. Un-American. Anti-American. Anti-Christian (!) Reactionary. Maniacal. Malicious. Malignant. Cancerous. Liar. Coward. Fool. Moron. Hater. Racist. Sexist. Bigot. Fiend. Repeat them. Repeat them again.

Bush is incompetent. Bush is inept. Bush is impotent. Bush is careless. Bush is reckless. Bush is stupid. Bush is dishonorable. Bush is disorganized. Bush is shortsighted. Bush is egotistical. Bush is arrogant. Bush is selfish. Bush is secretive. Bush is criminal. Bush is a dirty rat. Bush is a dictator. Bush is Hitlerian. Bush is a fascist. Bush is anti-democracy. Bush is conniving. Bush is deceitful. Bush is a thief. Bush is a brute. Bush is vicious. Bush is a felon. Bush is un-American. Bush is anti-American. Bush is anti-Christian (!) Bush is a reactionary. Bush is maniacal. Bush is malicious. Bush is malignant. Bush is cancerous. Bush is a liar. Bush is a coward. Bush is a fool. Bush is a moron. Bush is a hater. Bush is racist. Bush is sexist. Bush is a bigot. Bush is a fiend.

Cheney is incompetent. Cheney is inept. Cheney is impotent. Cheney is careless. Cheney is reckless. Cheney is stupid. Cheney is dishonorable. Cheney is disorganized. Cheney is shortsighted. Cheney is egotistical. Cheney is arrogant. Cheney is selfish. Cheney is secretive. Cheney is criminal. Cheney is a dirty rat. Cheney is a dictator. Cheney is Hitlerian. Cheney is a fascist. Cheney is anti-democracy. Cheney is conniving. Cheney is deceitful. Cheney is a thief. Cheney is a brute. Cheney is vicious. Cheney is a felon. Cheney is un-American. Cheney is anti-American. Cheney is anti-Christian (!) Cheney is a reactionary. Cheney is maniacal. Cheney is malicious. Cheney is malignant. Cheney is cancerous. Cheney is a liar. Cheney is a coward. Cheney is a fool. Cheney is a moron. Cheney is a hater. Cheney is racist. Cheney is sexist. Cheney is a bigot. Cheney is a fiend.

Bush and Cheney cannot be trusted. Bush and Cheney are unsafe. Bush and Cheney are failures. Bush and Cheney are terrorists.

Throw everything in the book at them, and even throw the damned book itself. Some of it will stick. Put them on a permanent defensive and make them fight every last allegation. If they won't, then it must be true, right? Dig up Prescott Bush's collaboration with Hitler's Nazis and paint Bush against the backdrop. Bring up Bush's quote about things being easier if America was a dictatorship -- so long as Bush is the dictator.

Who can think of former Massachusetts Governor and Presidential Candidate Michael Dukakis today without also remembering Bush Sr's racist Willie Horton ads, or the Tank? Something quite similarly devastating must come to be associated with Bush and the Bush family name. People should come to feel utter revulsion at the very sight of the man, or the very mention of his name.

Destroy these guys. Break them into pieces. Show them no mercy. They'd certainly do the same for you, as they are doing for John Kerry now. They know what's at stake. Hit them back where it hurts, and hit them hard!

Get involved. Send your own barrage of questions such as the ones mentioned above to undecided voters and Republicans that you may know. Get them thinking about what's at stake this November 2.
