What kind of pie will you eat on election day?

It's unavoidable. Pie is the obvious post-poll nosh for all Obama supporters. Which kind will mark the occasion for you?


ETA: Sweet potato because, well, duh.

We need to have its absence from the poll thoroughly investigated.

I blame Jeremiah Wright and the rest of the Muslins.

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
1 (8-inch) crumb or baked pie shell
1 (14 ounce) can EAGLE BRAND® Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT evaporated milk)
1/2 cup lemon juice from concentrate
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
2 eggs, separated
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar, if desired
4 tablespoons sugar

DIRECTIONS
In mixing bowl, combine EAGLE BRAND®, lemon juice, lemon rind or extract, and egg yolks; stir until mixture thickens. Pour into chilled crumb crust or cooled pastry shell.
Add cream of tartar to egg whites; beat until almost stiff enough to hold a peak. Add sugar gradually, beating until stiff and glossy but not dry. Pile lightly on pie filling.
Bake 325 degrees F. until meringue is lightly browned. Cool.

Did you get it from the Eagle Brand label? I think that's where hers came from many years ago.

My mother taught me to make it when I was in elementary school and ........ never taught me how to make anything else. lol

it looks like if the lemon is omitted you could substitue chocolate ,key lime or peanut butter for the flavoring

All this talk of pies is making me hungry. I may have to have several to choose from...one of my favorites is Caramel Pecan Silk Supreme.

Of course I will be serving my Republican stepdad a big ole slice of HUMBLE PIE!

It's a pie made by a restaurant chain up here called Bakers Square. It is so darn good. It's basically layers of chocolate silk, caramel, pecans, cream cheese and whipped cream on a graham cracker crust. I definitely order one every Thanksgiving.

Does the pie have crust? If so, is it on the bottom AND top, or just the bottom? Is it made with Splenda? LARD??? Are we contributing to the delinquency of overweight Americans by even suggesting that they eat pie? Does it contain tofu? What if it's made with moosemeat..is it still a pie?

with lots of whip cream....and all those pounds I lost will find their way home and bring friends with them...But what the hell...It's time to celebrate.

Actually, I'm going to pig-out on Election Night.

I'll wake-up around 3 in the afternoon (I work nights), turn on MSNBC, and begin prepping all of my treats. Pizza, tiramisu (!!!), Bawls energy drinks, and all sorts of other junk foods. :)

Blueberries are good for your brain. If you don't eat blueberries, you will end up like freepers the morans! :)

I'd go for apple pie after voting. Would love to enjoy the crunch knowing we're in a for a big,positive change.

Don't get me wrong, cake is good. Candy is good. But I love pie. Any kind of pie.

That's what my kids call evey pie I'm gonna bake ever since I fell asleep while having two pumpkin pies in the oven a few years ago. Filled the house up with the nice charred smell of incinerated pumpkin.


They came out looking like two clinkers from a coking oven.

The BEST pie known to man!

I've got a great and simple recipe: Blend PB with cool whip, fill a grahm cracker crust, sprinkle with chocolate chips, chill.

for myself and my friend, beef pot pie for the kids, and a montage of tasty pies for dessert! Sweet Potato, Lemon Meringue, Coconut Cream and maybe Apple! :)

We used to gather pecans from the trees in our yard to make the pie. It was a wonderful experience.

The fruit and nut fillings will flow freely, and the sweet potato will be abundant.

I will start with chicken pot pie...
followed by pecan, sweet potato, coconut custard, lemon, blueberry, chocolate and peanut butter.

I'm thinking it may be a short evening, and I won't have time to get to all of them.

But I can keep eating my pies on Nov. 5.
