It's time for McCain supporters to start losing hope
The news that McCain's camp is losing hope in Colorado is the clearest signal I've seen yet that we're likely headed to victory. Obama needs to foster the perception among McCain supporters that they are headed to defeat so that some of his less committed supporters decide they just want to stop worrying about the election and move on to something else. Meanwhile, the voter equivalents of bandwagon fans, the ones who always want to be with the winning side on election day, need to be welcomed aboard the Obama express. That's how landslides are created.

1. Let's be careful. One side affect of your approach . . .
Could be that Obama voters start saying, "we've got this won -- no need for me to go to the polls." While that might not cost Obama the White House, it could easily cost us the majorities we need in the House and Senate. Not to mention a whole bunch of very local elections (Prop. 8 in California, anyone?)

I'd prefer our folks tell themselves, "The 'Licans are going to try to steal this, sure as shootin'. The only way to protect Obama's victory is to vote, vote, vote so that the gap is so big their shenanigans can't overturn the people's will."

That gets out guys out without unduly interfering with the 'Licans slouching toward the slough of despond (as in "right where we want them").

3. I think people will be voting no matter what.
There's still the hope of a 60 in the Senate to keep Democrats motivated. Also, here in CA we have a shitload of bad props to shoot down.
