My Voting Experience
Please indulge me in a vanity post which I usually dread...

I voted yesterday and it was bittersweet...It was the first time in over a decade that I voted without my mom...She passed away about three weeks ago...Before that when we voted I would help her with her ballot because she could not see very well...Needless to say we both voted straight Democratic... The last time we voted was on a cold or what was cold for Central Florida afternoon for Hillary...We both loved Hillary although she would not have had any problems for voting for Obama and I didn't after getting over my initial disappointment of Hillary losing which was profound...

Before my mom passed away on September 28th I would ask her who she was voting and she said Obama...I also convinced her to vote against Florida's Amendment 2, the anti gay marriage amendment...At first she thought the idea of two people of the same gender marrying as odd ( she was ninety years old and from a different generation) but I told her with all the hate in the world if two men or two women love each other and are in a committed relationship why shouldn't they have the same right as everybody else to have government recognize that relationship...

Actually voting was fun...There was an African American couple behind me...I whispered " I just want to vote for Obama and get out of here." They smiled and said :us two"... Then I saw two women with 'Women For Obama' buttons and smiled broadly...

1. Your mom will be smiling down on you on Nov 5th.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Mom's can never be replaced, but I'm confident she'll always be with you in some capacity.

Peace to you!

2. I'm sorry for your loss
I lost my father 12 years ago and I still remember how much he liked Hillary. He said in 92 when Clinton was running, "Well at least he married a smart woman, that says a lot for him." I turned to my mother and said, "That is a compliment to you."

My mother and I both voted for Hillary. At the time I was hoping that Obama would be chosen VP. I'm now very certain that Obama is the right person for the time after seeing so many people out there excited and energized.

My 86 year old mother will vote absentee and I will help her with her ballot. She's excited about voting for Obama. I brought a yard sign up for her this past weekend.
