Obama LEAVING CAMPAIGN TRAIL To Be With Sick Grandmother!
OMG.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/20/obama-leaving-campaign-tr_n_136373.html

"WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is canceling nearly all his campaign events Thursday and Friday to fly to Hawaii to visit his suddenly gravely ill 85-year-old grandmother, his communications director said.

Robert Gibbs told reporters aboard Obama's plane that Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, who helped raise him, was released from the hospital late last week. But he said her health had deteriorated "to the point where her situation is very serious.""

2. That is really sad.
I am glad that he has assembled a great group of surrogates to campaign for him in his absence.

I know it is only a couple of days, but we are less than 2 weeks away from this election.

7. It must be so hard for her to see how Barack is being treated by some
I hope she is there to see Barack take his oath of office on inauguration day.

9. Yes it must be sad. Maybe his visiting
her will give her the strength to survive just a little bit longer.

4. I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.
This woman has been such a strong person in Barack's life. He has often spoken of her commitment to do her best for him. Without question,he is doing the right thing. I would have a problem with anyone who didn't put their family first. To the nasty republicans-this is showing what family values are. Not just saying the words like so many of them do. God Bless the Obama family.

5. Should we send flowers?
I don't have a lot, but I could go in for 5-10 dollars.

6. I don't think so.
Very sweet of you. I would donate to the fellow who is running against Michelle Bachman in his grandma's name instead.

It sounds like it is a grave (near-death) situation. Probably better to give them privacy, no gifts.
