Supporters turn out for McCain, Palin bus at Antrim Township stop

Urgent determination worked its way through the crowd Monday outside the McCain-Palin Straight Talk Express at the Strait Steel parking lot near Greencastle.

Franklin County GOP Chairman Jim Taylor asked for volunteers to make telephone calls during the final two weeks of the campaign.

"Help with the campaign? Oh, yes," said Peggy Reid, Chambersburg.

Reid was among the 50 or so people who arrived at 10 a.m. She picked up a McCain-Palin T-shirt and yard signs at the GOP campaign recreational vehicle used by presidential candidate John McCain and running mate Sarah Palin when they visit Pennsylvania.

"I'm all excited about the RV bus, " Reid said. "I support Republicans. We've got to get things going."

A steady crowd came and went during the RV's two-hour stay. T-shirts were sold out within 20 minutes. People posed with cardboard cutouts of McCain and Palin for photographs.

4. Passersby noted that the cardboard cutout was more lifelike than the real McCain
And, both cutouts had more personality that any of the people posing with them.

13. It is also much taller and less pale
I got photographed with a McCain cut out at a county fair (as a joke for some in-laws). The cut-out starts about 6 inches off of the ground.

6. How could they tell?
Those two are already caricatures of political candidates, how would one know if they were standing next to a real person or just the facsimile of one?

Maybe they had a tape loop of "My friends......You betcha!....." playing endlessly in the background.

10. Those fools must love the cutouts because
they are cold and one-dimensional, just like the real thing they represent.
