I've noticed a despicable trend in the posts of the DU. Posts and polls of "its over" are starting to pop up.
It makes me sick.
I didn't change my political party just to hear words of defeat every time the current shifts a bit. This is not the cry-baby liberal party that I was led to believe by the GOP, and it sure is not the party that turns tail and runs in the face of danger. Did any of you think this was going to be a cake walk?
When the current shifts, you get your swift boat in gear and fight back. Just as we should. I love the challenge, I love the arguments, but most importantly I love the cause that I fight for. Every argument the GOP has, the people at DU and the DNC have a counter punch for. Absolutely nothing is working for Dubyah, and I think he knows this.
This is not the time for despair. This is the time for a counter punch of our own. What happened thirty years ago is not really important, considering Dubyah wasn't on the boat with Kerry to dispute the charges. John O'Neill has campaigned against Kerry since they were both political upstarts. O'Neill was the anti-Kerry poster child in the sixties only to become lost in obscurity when people finally realized the Vietnam War was wrong (and when Nixon lost the election). The simple fact that Kerry was awarded those medals is never disputed. It cannot be. He was there, on that boat, in some God-forsaken river in Vietnam. Bush was not. Nor was he anywhere remotely close to Vietnam. Bush couldn't lie on his war record, because there was not one to lie about.
Now it is the time, my fellow DUers, to fight back. Kerry/Edwards believes in fighting the good fight, and leaving dirty politics out of it. However, I say, its time to fight fire with fire. I hear all the good things that the Kerry/Edwards campaign will do if elected, however, I hear nothing about how bad it will be if they are not chosen. All also hear no arguments about Bush and company's record. Does no one realize that Dubyah was a coked out alcoholic failure up until he was forty? Does no one see that he was a puppet from the age forty till the present? Who sees Chaney and his company reaping the profit from destroying a country? I see no one challenging Dubyah on his connection to big oil and the Saudi family? Wasn't it Saudi citizens (most of them) who hijacked our planes and got us all into this mess?
Lets keep our heads up, and our eyes focused on the prize. Its time to put a little bit of Republican mud-slinging into this Democratic campaign.
