It's time "Conservative" replaces "Liberal" as the dirty name of politics

For years, Republicans and certain members of the media have been branding one another with the "Liberal" label as though that were the worst name in the book.

But after the country has been turned to shambles as a result of 8 years of a conservative president, who now stands as the least popular in recent history, shouldn't the term "Conservative" now take the place of "Liberal" as the dirtiest name a politician can be named?

To this day, McSame is using "Liberal" as a perjorative when blasting Obama's record and policies. I say we begin using "Conservative" in the same fashion.

Now, how do we go about spreading this meme?

I can't believe how many people, even on DU, get upset when I refer to something good as liberal. It's a good thing, dammit!

From the patriots who broke with British rule and started the American Revolution, to the Abolitionists, to Abe Lincoln (a liberal, although a Reupblican), to the Suffragists, to the Labor movement, to FDR's New Deal, to the Civil Rights movement...

...the liberals have always been the ones who stood up and did what needed to be done, while the conservatives of the time were always the ones who would cling to the past and resisted the change so desperately needed. Some things never change!

All over the Country in bars and in restaurants, in businesses and at gyms, liberals have been speaking up. For the 1st time in a long while we have been unafraid to voice our opinions. This is a liberal Country, it always has been and it always will be. Jefferson, Lincoln, Kennedy, King, these are the liberal men who have shaped the Country. Bush is the object of scorn far and wide and he represents the failed Conservative movement.

I am Liberal and I am proud of it. On nearly every issue, the majority of the Country stands with the Liberals.

The majority of Americans: Support abortion rights, support sane gun control policies, support a progressive tax system, want universal health care, think that Social Security is a good thing etc etc. To some extent we, the left, have taken the word Liberal back from the right and have begun to undo the smears that the word has taken over the past 25 years.

The Conservative movement has been a disaster and is un American. It is up to us to continue to let the world know what Conservative really means.

Conservative means: An insane borrow and spend fiscal policy, Having the Government take control of a woman's body, Inviting the Government into your Bedrooms, your computers and your phones, pursuing fear politics that divide our Country without addressing the issues, enormous government giveaways to the richest Americans and the largest Corporations, disdain and hate for Unions, especially teachers and auto workers, Secrecy in Government and huge power grabs behind the scenes, scorched earth politics that say that the end justify the means, a foreign policy based more on profit than on freedom, in general a belief that humans are inherently evil and that they'll mostly do whats wrong if given a choice.

"DAMN STRAIGHT PAL. You have a problem with that?"

And then I look them in the eye and not blink.

I've made 2 people wimp out and walk out of my office after that so far this week.
