7. Wasn't Saddam Hussein fairly socialist?
Brutal, yes, but I always pictured him as somewhat left of center. He had his own countrymen horribly tortured, yes, but he also did his best to protect minority Christian, Yezidi, and Mandaean communities from persecution by Shi'a and Sunni alike.
