Pfotenhauer, Palin & Bachmann - Was Real America Attacked On 9/11? Did Real Americans Die?
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 11:23 AM by Median Democrat
We have the McCain campaigns most recent attempt to divide the country by Pfotenhauer, Palin & Bachmann talking about a real, authentic America. Palin expanded this theme by saying that there are pro-America areas of the country. Bachmann asked for an investigation of anti-American members of Congress. Pfotenhauer talked about North Virginia not being "real America." Real America and Real Americans live in small towns, not in cities like New York, let alone Washington DC.

Well, I guess the Republicans should not worry about 9/11, because I guess real America was not attacked, and 3,000 real Americans did not die, according to the hateful rhetoric being spewed by the McCain/Palin campaign. All those people who perished, including the hundreds of police and firefighters who tried to save them, were not real Americans according to Pfotenhauer, Palin & Bachmann.

McCain senior adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer, a self-described "proud resident of Oakton, Virginia," said on MSNBC that "Democrats have just come in from the District of Columbia and moved into Northern Virginia, and that's really what you see there. But the rest of the state, real Virginia, if you will, I think will be very responsive to Senator McCain's message."

Program host Kevin Corke asked Pfotenhauer if she wanted to retract the comment, prompting her to reply, "I mean 'real Virginia' because Northern Virginia is where I've always been, but 'real Virginia' I take to be the -- this part of the state that is more Southern in nature, if you will. Northern Virginia is really metro D.C."

Virginia Democrats took umbrage at her description, pointing out that McCain and his wife own a condominium in the northern part of the state and that the McCain campaign's national headquarters is also located there.

5. As someone who's close friend nearly lost her sister in the 9/11 attacks
and as someone in a state right next door to New York, f*ck you Michelle Bachmann, Nancy pencil neck, Palin, Buchanan and all the rest. Those hicks in those hodinky little towns take 9/11 so seriously and yet it never directly effected them. I had relatives living in NYC (where my family is originally from) after the 9/11 attacks happened and we were worried sick. How about the NYC firefighters? I guess their bravery was meaningless as they are not from "Real America". I would like to see some small town hicks go up a huge burning tower while showing no fear. Please. It is all talk and no show. For gods sake, Osama Bid Laden thought we were American enough to attack us. I hope after the election they will all be humiliated.

6. Manhattan was attacked, and showed the world what Manhattanites...

and New Yorkers from other boroughs were made of. From those in the lowliest jobs to executives, firefighters and police, New Yorkers showed courage and humanity. It takes hours to read the names of those from the community that is New York who were lost. How dare they say that anywhere in this country is more "American" than the island of Manhattan. Shame on them!

I've shared your thoughts many times during this campaign.

10. Yes. Remember, back then everyone had the 77 blackout and "Escape From New York" in their heads...

...and imagined that all it would take is one big disaster for us to rip each other apart, that whole "thin veil of civilization" bit.

What happened? No looting. No Disorder. Everyone pitching in to help (and that's Everyone, including all those who came from around the country to pitch in and lend their talents to first the search, then the clean-up, efforts).

So damn them, and especially those of them who use Ground Zero as a backdrop to scold us (that would be you, David Zucker).

12. Stewart Was Using Satire, Which The GOP Just Doesn't Get...
I am not saying that Obama should say it directly, but someone ought to ask exactly what does McCain/Palin mean by when they disparage big cities and Washington DC as not being real America. Does that mean that real America was not attacked and real Americans did not die?

13. The obvious Palin/Bachmann/Pfarvegnugen answer....
"The Pentagon was REAL America, but New York wasn't. But those REAL fictional Amrerican heroes sure brought that plane down in PA. Which may or may not be REAL America (it depends on whether we can get to the Diebold machines)"
