6. The Photographers Know What They're Doing
It's subliminal imaging at its finest.

Bag News Notes specializes in this. When the cameramen want to portray a candidate favorably, they show his head in front of a diffuse light that resembles a halo. When they want to portray the candidate negatively, they make the person seem small, washed-out, or some other negative characteristic.

11. That's more of aneditorial thing
Photojournalism in the field is very opportunistic. I shoot a little, and the most valuable thing I've found (but need to develop) is not think about the picture, just take it whenever I get the instinct. If it's something like a landscape or a studio situation where you have the luxury of composing it, fine...but even those instincts will often be wrong. Better to just shoot and pick out the good ones later. I've actually set my digital camera not to display the pic after I've taken it; the less I think the more good pictures I get.
