freepers going after AP reporter on booing story
Here they go again. Stalking a member of the press. I wonder how many threats of violence they'll send.

1. grasswire, how do you do it?
I don't spend very much time over there, mostly because their interface is completely nonsensical, but when I do happen upon a thread, the smoke comes pouring out of my ears and I can truly feel my blood pressure skyrocketing.

How do you manage? They're just so clinically insane over there, as this latest thread proves. :D

2. Jen, I too get physically ill if I go over there...
Whenever I try to wade through the muck over there, my stomach goes into a knot.

And if you should happen to check out some of the whacked-out profiles of the really hateful posters, what you see will run so counter to everything you were taught as a kid (a sense of fair play, do what's good for the group, love your neighbor, etc.) that it will really shake you.

:kick:

3. It's that "sense of fair play" part that's really sticking out for me...
... this election cycle.

4. freepers are just different from us.
they have different values, different interests, different priorities, different worldviews.

it's hard to believe sometimes that there are people out there so void of the stuff we all learned at kids. but i imagine a lot of them had some pretty weird stuff instilled in them as kids.

wonder what the percentage of them from seriously dysfunctional homes is.

6. Look very very close at the right side of the red sticker
In teeny tiny letters it says "I support". These pukes are lying with fine print to make it look like they're Vietnam vets.

7. Why did the reporter say the crowd booed when they didn't?
I think that's the bigger question.

8. Two confilicting reports of what happened
and you've chosen to believe one report is 100% correct.

9. I only believe what I heard and there was no booing
My ears did not lie. Some reporter made up a story and that is just wrong.

16. It isn't hard to decide which version to believe
if you listen to the audio of the event:

10. Were you there yourself?

If so, are you sure no one in the crowd booed?

My guess is that there were a few boos that one reporter picked up on but others didn't hear. If people near the reporter booed -- and others in the crowd gasped, murmured, or otherwise reacted to show their surprise, as normal people would do if they heard that someone well-known and seemingly in good health was hospitalized and would soon have heart surgery -- the reporter might have believed "the crowd" was booing.

But I wasn't there and I'm not making excuses for the reporter, merely trying to understand conflicting reports.

11. Not there...I heard to audio reports and heard no booing
If there was I would be the first to hammer them but now I'm more concerned about media integrity.

14. Thanks!
My main interest is media integrity and getting the truth out to the people so they can make an informed decision. With that I have no doubt Kerry will win. We don't need lies to win.

I suggest CBS, PBS for now. They seem to give Bush less credit.

19. Karen, is it you???
A little more on the boo-a-rama, from a reporter on the scene ...

Karen Hughes went totally apesh-t at the AP when that dispatch hit the wire. She stormed up the bleachers and starting screaming at the AP writer (who took it in stride). "They didn't boo! Were you and I in the same rally! What is this crap?" or something along those lines (it was loud in there). The AP writer then canvassed his colleagues, who all said they hadn't heard any boos. Say what you want about McClellan ("dreadful briefer," "talking points only"), I don't think he's ever screamed at a reporter.

12. Of course, they all cheered their heads off. If we could hear it or not.
These venomous hate-mongers who have been publicly torturing Bill Clinton for a decade are suddenly moved by qualms of pity when he gets a chest pain? Give me a break. If they really believe in this Bush-loving god they say they do, maybe they're afraid of retribution from their own guilty conscience.

23. Well if some of the audience didn't boo but sounded like it,
then I don't blame the freepers for being upset. The AP report probably thought they were boos but found out they were not and tried to correct themselves. The freepers are upset that they are portrayed as booing assholes during a sensitive time. But these freepers have to realize that their side is just like that.

32. Some of us engage in the same tactics
It is unfortunate to see the same behaviour among self-described liberals that we saw in the Freepers when they tried to get the waitress at Chuy's fired for calling the cops on the Bush twins.

I believe that some self-criticism is due on both sides of the political spectrum. Something has gone very wrong in our politics since the days of the Arkansas Project when a small rightwing cabal tried to toppled a democratically elected President. The same disease is spreading over the rest of the body politic.
