Rendell's comments on PA being in play --- just more rope a dope
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 06:19 PM by grantcart
from the begining Obama's campaign has been to maintain the highest number of battleground states so that they would spread McCain's resources in terms of time and money to as many states and media markets as possible.

PA is no longer close but McCain needs it to win - must have it.

The more money and time that they can get McCain to spend in PA the less that he will have to spend in IN OH and FL where it remains tight.

This is the game that they have been playing from the start.

This is all part of the script and you shouldn't believe that just because Rendell says that he is worried about PA that he is actually worried about PA.

edited to add more evidence of the rope a dope

http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/10/mccain_stretches_ad_dollars_in.php

First, we learned from Democratic ad buyers that the McCain campaign was not spending any new money on advertising in New Hampshire and Wisconsin -- tantamount to concessions of those states. Now, from those same sources, we learn that the McCain campaign is reconfiguring their advertising buys in Colorado and Maine as well.

What this means is that the campaign is scaling back on the volume of their current buys and will stretch those savings for another week.

What this means is that the campaign is making tough decisions about where to spend.

What this means that is that if they thought that they could move the numbers in Colorado, they would spend there.

What this pretense of a strategy means, in essence, is that the campaign has no real electoral strategy -- they are simply trying to cover as much ground as possible in the hope that one of these states breaks for McCain.

9. The reality has always been, win all the blue states, win ONE red state.....
And if you win ONE red state, it means many more will follow. It's simple.

Have over 150 million to spend doesn't hurt.

11. Actually the strategy was and still is to create as many battleground states as possible
so that the McCain forces cannot concentrate into just 5-6 swing states.
