Venting: My family is such an embarrassment and full of idiots
My Grandfather in Houston is a former Huckabee supporter (beginning of the year) and he switched to Obama and voted for Obama in the Texas Primary. He was so excited about the Chicago Tribune's endorsement of Obama that he emailed a copy of the endorsement along with his words of excitement and joy to our entire family across the country and he got the nastiest responses via email and phone. My family was calling him an idiot, a traitor and other nasty responses I can't remember. This included responses from his niece in Boston, his sister and her family in San Diego and my Uncle (his son) in Austin! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!

I am so embarrassed that my family first of all supports McCain and also that they would say such horrible things to my Grandpa who is a very intelligent, caring person. He is the only glue that holds our family together. My Grandpa has always been involved in politics and his cousin was a Dem US Congressman in the 60's and 70's. Usually my family listens to him and respects his opinion but I guess they are just scared and spewing non-sense.

I am so proud of him for standing his ground and supporting Obama! He has been so excited about this election and he is trying to sway everyone he comes in contact with (church, board meetings, restaurants, doctors offices) to vote for Obama!

:grr:

1. I love your grandfather. It's much harder to be a Democrat in a place like TX.

15. That pic is too sweet!
Boo to the rest of your family. I know I think my grandma is crazy and I don't agree with half of the things she says but I would NEVER show her that kind of disrespect. Tell gramps he has a whole website full of people who support him!

4. OMFG! WTF? If your family is supposed to believe in the party of "family values"
and value McCain for his "experience" then why aren't they showing your grandfather the respect that he deserves? McCain certainly doesn't deserve the deference that they give to him if they can't even give it to their own family patriarch. WTF? I always get so pissed off when people treat the elderly with such disrespect. Plus, I know that you don't need to be polite with family but what happened to the love? My family is dysfunctional but we still manage to find ways to talk. WTF? Maybe it's upsetting for me because I love my grandparents so even when they're being illogical or whatever, it's just shocking to me to think of cursing them out or insulting them just because I happen to disagree with them.

I'm so sorry for your grandfather-- he is awesome for seeing that Barack is so awesome and it sucks that his own child and relatives treat him with such contempt. He does not deserve that.

9. I know and I would feel the same if it was someone else's Grandparent
I am especially ashamed of my Uncle. I think it is cause he owns an oil company so he was to "Drill baby Drill". I am sorry that is not an excuse and he needs to start looking at alternate forms of energy anyways because he is going to be out of business soon if he doesn't. He is probably just doing his "I want to shock everyone and be an ass" attitude. He has 2 personalities the "I love my family and am a caring person" personality and then he has his "I am an asshole who is trying to start a fight and get under your skin" personality.

16. Oh Yeah...esp the ones in San Diego.
At my Grandma's 80th birthday party a few years ago one of them told my Mom's best friend (whose daughter had just left the day before to Italy to be a foreign exchange student) that they need to be worried cause the part of Italy she went to is full of mafia people and everyone gets raped. I was like WTF is wrong with these people. My Mom's friend was so upset and ever since then my Mother and I have not even thought about talking to them. What a hateful thing to say to a Mother that is already worried about her daughter.

Not to mention that later they found out she was staying at a mafia family's house, which once she realized they got her moved to another family. Horrible!

she's 'attractive'... didn't know a damned thing about the asshole like the wolf killer, troopergate, etc., but she's 'attractive' to him and that seems good enough.

good fricken lawd.
and he's a very very smart man in a lot of ways, also a big fat egocentric mysoginist.

20. It's hard out here for an
Obama supporter.

There was the grandma who got beat up last week, the family meltdown in the driveway 2 weeks ago, and the entire church group turning against that one guy.

These people act like Sen. Obama is a repo-man hell bent on taking their car away.
