McCain's Interview with Imus
Palin is the "most qualified of anyone recently who has run for VP"? What about your BFF Joe Lieberman, Senator McCain?

http://thepage.time.com/more-on-mccains-interview-with-imus/?xid=rss-page

On Colin Powell and other Republicans doubting Palin: Asks "What's their problem?" Calls her the "most popular governor in America," lists her accomplishments in Alaska. Says Bill Clinton was "pretty much derided" when he came out of a small state to run for president. "I'm amazed."

Says just because she hasn't been to a "Georgetown cocktail party" doesn't mean she's not ready for the job. "I think she's the most qualified of anyone recently who has run for vice president to tell you the truth... I'm frankly entertained at the elitist attidue toward a person who is a proven leader."

On TV interviews: "She did fine in the interviews with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric. She did a great job in those interviews.... It's easy to make fun of people and ask them gotcha quesitons but I don't think that the American people buy that baloney."

Thinks it's "hilarious" that some have called going on "Meet the Press" a necessity for a candidate. Laughed out loud.

8. He sounds bizarre in this interview at times...

"America should be disturbed at Obama's response to 'Joe the Plumber.'"

WTF?

5. Asking someone what newspapers they read is a "gotcha" question?
Or asking her to elaborate on a claim that she made (i.e., that she has foreign policy expereince due to her state's proximity to Russia) is out of bounds?

Go away, John.

7. McCain says his internal polls show tighter race...

This is worth listening to, to hear how weird and inappropriate McCain sounds.

...like 4 or 5 points - margin of error stuff. Sure. :eyes:

Then he starts whining about Obama not taking public financing. Joe the Plumber doesn't want to "spread the wealth."

Imus asks him about Powell's statements about Palin. McCain asks, "What's their problem (with Palin)?" She worked on the pipeline! She's been a mayor! People like to see people with special children, wonderful children...husband's a union member!

----

Imus asks why she couldn't name a newspaper she read. McCain - people read the news online, now! Imus couldn't get a word in edgewise.

McCain sounds paranoid, laughing inappropriately, filibustering and rambling.

Imus says he doesn't think the Couric interview went well. Asks why Ayres is an issue but not Wright? McCain, blah blah blah Acorn....

9. Elitist attitude? The few honest repug -cons
who have called his cynical ploy at RW populism have spoken out as his campaign has hit new lows even for a rovianhatefest.

Yupper, Noonan, Buckley, Adelman (shocker, even a neocon has had enough) Gergin, Brooks, have all decreid grummpys thoughtless, reckless choice in selecting the wolf killah from wassilah just to up stage the DNC and to get a little favorbale press for two weeks, before the dam burst and the wolf killah from wassilah's abject ignorance became a parody of bad politics.

What prompted the RW to come out against this farce? They realized that grummpy's reckless, erratic behavior was going to leave a bad stench ontheir repig brand up and down ticket, for this and other elections to come.

What dumbya killed, grummpy has turned into a foul smelling carcass.

10. Ok, I'm going to have to make a point of
attending a 'Georgetown cocktail party' at least once before I die.

They sound like fun, and I can be guaranteed to not run into Palin there.

11. More: Imus gripes on Wright
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1008/McCain_Imus_Wright.html

McCain had a long, process-oriented interview with Don Imus this morning, worth a listen, including Imus's gripe about Obama's relative treatment of his own nearly career-ending, racially charged joke and of Jeremiah Wright.

"When I got in the mess that I got in, Senator Obama was the first one to jump up and suggested that I be fired, which I didn’t have any problem with. And when the wheels came off with Reverend Wright, the first thing Senator Obama said was that we should put his remarks in context and also we should consider all the wonderful things that Rev. Wright had done throughout his life," Imus said. "That was a luxury that he was affording Reverend Wright and himself to get out of that mess, and something that he was unwilling to afford me – not that that would have been appropriate, by the way. But I thought that revealed a disturbing level of hypocrisy and a willingness to employ a double standard and something worth talking about."

McCain politely called it a "very valid point" and steered the conversation back to Joe the plumber.

13. Does it occur to Imus
The statement was put in context of his many racial statements he has made. Which is why no one believed his excuse. By the way why is McCain on Imus? What are their still a few racist hate filled people that like poor sports commentary that aren't voting for him?

14. Saying that she is more qualified than any recent VP candidate? Is
he out of his mind and does he think people really believe that? As much as I hate Cheney, there was no doubt that he had an extensive resume and was "qualified". Not to mention LIEberman or Gore. This guy just can't possibly believe that people are buying this crap, can he?
