Obama Just Delivered the Most Devastating Ass-Kicking I Have Ever seen in Politics
:wow:

His answer to the last question at the press briefing was so fucking hardcore that my head is spinning.

He laid out the logic of the tax cut in understandable terms, then ripped John McCain to shreds.

"Was John McCain a socialist in 2000 when he opposed the very Bush tax cut for the very wealthy that my plan would roll back? It's an - ahem - implausible argument. And it indicates to me that they have run out of ideas."

Youchies. I can't imagine any GOPer watching that performance and not wanting to throw in the towel. Brutal smarts.

This guy doesn't mealy-mouth some focus-group tested nonsense. he says: here's my position and here's their position. Yes, that's what it is. You get to choose, so which do you choose?

It's like a breath of fresh air in politics to hear a guy say, essentially, we're a community and we're going to care for each other, and they can call me what they want, but these are my policies and YOU get to decide. It was beautiful.

5. Did anyone see the Daily Show last night?
It should be an ad....they showed an old clip of the Hardball College tour (I believe, from way back in the day, when McCain was less of a Nazi), and a psycho looking girl asked McCain something like "Why should my father be punished with a higher tax bracket bc he is a doctor? Like, isn't that SOCIALISM??" McCain just says "The idea is, that once someone is making more money, they should be more comfortable paying more taxes."

8. I LOVE the way he isn't afraid to use their words against them.
He says "socialist" and "maverick" and totally sucks the hot air out of them. I feel like the old Dem tactic was to completely ignore the Republican attacks and not EVER draw attention to them... but Obama just slaps them down one after the next.

25. What Obama gets, and needs to communicate to the folks is that ALL of us have benefitted
in some way from collective sharing of our "common wealth" -- the GI Bill raised Americans into a middle class, as did negotiations for union wages and benefits. Wealthy folks in this country have benefitted from who they know, who is in power, and who has designed the tax shelters and tax breaks to bennefit them. This "I did it on my own" (and I shouldn't have to pay taxes) is particularly American bullshit that needs to be challenged.

48. I am glad he did.
It was listening to the "Hockey Mom" and McPOW delivering stinging barbs over what Sen. Biden said. His press conference this morning needed to be done because it neatly refuted the garbage being thrown at the Obama/McCain campaign. It just warms my heart that Sen. Obama is fighting back and not laying down in the road to be battered with the regular amount of lies from the GOP.
