Life Saving Efforts at KC Obama Rally
As mentioned before, my wife and I travelled to KC on Saturday to attend the Obama rally. We drove about 3 1/2 hours to get there. I'm sorry that this is not so much a timely post, but I have not been able to get on my computer for the last few days.

* Arkieboy's diary :: ::
*

We arrived around 1:00 PM, parked the Redneckmobile and got in line at the WW I Memorial. The line was already several thousand people long. We waited in line for about 2 hours, then another hour or so in the crowd. It was amazing! No friction, no short tempers, nada! And, buddy, we were packed in like sardines.

About an hour before Barack was to take the stage... my dear wife has a massive asthma attack! She drops unconcious to the ground. I am unable to even pick her up because of my disability. A young black man we had been chatting with immediately picks her up and literally runs out of the crowd carrying her. On the way, a young white man joins the procession... they both run for the edge of the crowd and yell for the EMS personnel on site. The white man, Alex, happens to be an Iraq Veteran... not just any Veteran, but a combat medic... he immediately starts first aid with an inhaler my wife carries in her purse. It seemed like hours before EMS got there. My wife stopped breathing altogether, Alex immediately picked her up and started running for the ambulance about 200 feet away. Dumping her in the ambulance, the Medical team, along with Alex immediately start trying to force Oxygen into her and administering CPR. As soon as she was reasonably stabilized, it was off to Truman Medical Center in KC, just a few blocks away. Arriving there, they immediately intubated her and put her on a respirator. She spent two days on the respirator, coming off yesterday. She is very weak but is expected to recover.

1. Keep us informed on her progress
She will certainly be in our prayers.

As I read your post, my mind was repeating..."We are not White America, We are not Black America, We are ONE America."

So true.

That is the America that we yearn for, helping each other, working together to make this world a better place.

:hug: for your wife and for you!

4. This is what should be getting the attention!
NOt some imaginary mugging with a fake black eye and a B.

So glad the woman is okay and it sounds like she had some quick thinking people around her.

It must have been a very scary moment for you. I'm glad that the two young men helped you so much and that all turned out well in the end.
