looks like:

As shown in the examples above, you will be hard pressed to find a FRESH black eye without some eyelid and peri-orbital edema.

Here's a pair of fake black eyes emulated with makeup from an advertisement:

Note that the make-up looks a lot like this:

As you can see, there is no edema or distortion of the peri-ocular features whatsoever. It's no wonder she didn't seek medical attention.

1. The makeup artist for the ad did an excellent job. The "bruises"

are kind of irregular and mottled. Not so for Miss Todd's perfectly even charcoal gray eye shadow.

Any 1st year make-up artist could have created something that looks a helluva a lot more realistic than the smeared mascara 'black eye" sported by our would be victim. Pathetic.
